Armando is reporting it has been decided that Jeff Ireland will stay as the GM. And Sparano will be fired after the season as of now

Armando doesn't know this any better than anyone else on these forums.  Another irresponsible story.

Reporters who treat the newspaper like its a message board kinda piss me off.

Are you serious Brian?  You don't think he has a few connections at team headquarters that maybe the average guy doesn't? We know of certain "fans" that have inside people so to think a local reporter doesn't is just plain silly.

With that said I still don't get the Ireland love.  What exactly has he done to show he is worth keeping?

I think Ireland knows how to play the game. Knows who to suck up to. Can play the "Parcells was making these picks not me" don't blame me for this mess type of thing. And once Ireland was side-by-side with Ross during and throughout the Harbaugh debacle he probably earned brownie points with Ross.

With that said, IF a big name coach like a Cowher or someone of that stature wanted to come to Miami. I have no doubt Ross would fall in love and throw Ireland under the bus in 2 seconds. LOL. I think that's the kind of guy Ross is. Always wanting to play with the shinny new toy and ditch the old one.

If they hire him I'll stop watching.  He didn't do shit as coach of the Jets and he was terrible in Cleveland.

The article says "I am reporting..." like he has no source to cite, he's just making it up, like he IS the source.  How unprofessional to use "I am reporting" in a newspaper article anyway.  Really?  You write for the newspaper, we know that you are reporting something.  Cite someone, quote someone, show some facts.

Otherwise, this article reads as pure conjecture.

Would you be shocked if he was right?

No, I wouldn't.

However, he's a news journalist, and unless he's writing an editorial column, reporting his opinion or conjecture as fact is irresponsible.  He is a source, and he could write a story that says "BREAKING NEWS - AARON RODGERS TRADED TO MIAMI FOR A HOT DOG" and people would cite him and quote him and tweet his story and all of it is false.

Journalism 101 - don't make up your own news stories.

It is COMMON practice amoung journlist to get together for lunch, bounce around wild speculation and then cite the source "as insiders are speculating about the possibility that"

He's not going to name names. He's not going to say he's not going to name names, he just isn't.  It's very simply when you read between the lines. He's been told what's what but he's been told that if he even mentions where he got the information he won't be getting any more information. So he's reporting what he knows without mentioning how he knows it.

The only problem I have with Ireland staying is that I wouldn't want that affecting the decision as to who the next coach might be.  If the next coach has no desire to work with Ireland and wants to bring in his own guy, I say let him do it. If he doesn't mind having Ireland stay, then I don't have a problem with it.

I don't believe the problem is with the talent level, at least not with the talent level of the starters.  I believe the problem is mainly in the production gotten from the starters which I place the blame solely on Sparano. There's also a bit of a problem with the talent level of the backups when the starters go down, but I'm not quite sure whom to blame that on Ireland or Sparano, probably a little bit of both.  I see too many players like Patrick Turner, Tedd Ginn Jr and various others that other teams seem to get more production out of than Miami does.
