2011 NFC East Champions!

« on: December 12, 2011, 12:33:40 pm »

The New York Giants are quite possibly the most frustratingly-inconsistent team ever in history.

They lost 4 straight (PHI, SF, NO, GB) and then finally won against DAL. They are now 7-6, but if they got their heads out of their asses they should have been at least 8-5 (beating PHI) and possibly win at least one of those three other games (9-4) before playing DAL.

They are "at home" for the rest of the season:

Week 15: vs. WAS
Week 16: @ NYJ
Week 17: vs. DAL

Washington completely sucks (yet we lost to them in Week 1, further evidence of the Giants being completely frustrating). The Giants should beat WAS to go 8-6. DAL plays @ TB on Saturday night - a team that got destroyed by JAC. So DAL should be 8-6 also.

In Week 16, the Giants can and should beat the Jets - another team that is as F'ed up as the Giants. DAL plays @ PHI, and while I think DAL will win, PHI has a way of F'ing up your day. It would be awesome if they F'ed up DAL's day.

Finally, DAL @ NYG in Week 17 for all the marbles. We could wind up having the exact same record at the conclusion of Week 17's game, regardless of who wins. We're now both 2-2 in the Division, and depending on how things play out, we could both be 3-3 at the conclusion of Week 17 as well and if DAL wins, 1-1 H2H.

Which means it could then go to Tie-Braker #3 (Common Game W/L). As of right now the Giants are 3-0 vs. AFC East and 2-2 vs. NFC West, while the Cowboys are 2-2 vs. AFC East and 3-1 vs. NFC West.

The Giants simply cannot blow it any longer now. One for sure winnable game next week, one tough but winnable game @ NYJ, and then the showdown for the division vs. DAL, also at home. Three games in a row played at the Meadowlands against 2 division foes and the cross-town rival means that everything up to this point can basically be erased from memory. If the Giants blow it now...

You apparently haven't been following the Dolphins this season.

You apparently haven't been following the Dolphins this season.

The Dolphins were supposed to suck. Only the Miami Dolphins fans thought that the Dolphins had a chance to be anything other than their current 4-9 record.

The NYG, on the other hand, while not expected to go 13-0 like the Packers, were looked at as a good enough team to possibly win the NFC East. They lose to WAS in week 1, and looked horrible. Then, amidst the PHI "Dream Team" hype in Week 2, mop the floor with them and look great...then lose week 3 inexplicably vs. SEA.

Another cross-section of the season highlights this well: They beat the Patriots on the road, Super Bowl XLII style. Then lose at home to Vince Young's 3-6 Eagles. Then lose 4 straight and beat DAL on the road in inexplicable fashion.

6 of 7 Giants' wins this season have come courtesy of an Eli Manning 4th quarter comeback - only the win vs. Rams on MNF was not a come-from-behind fashion win.

So not only are the Giants wildly inconsistent from game to game, they are wildly inconsistent throughout the course of individual games.

I'll be rooting for the Giants when then play the Jets.

Outside of that, the entire NFC East can vanish for all I care, 4 most obnoxious fan bases in all of football

Have you met any Jets, Patriots, or Bills fans?

The Dolphins fans can also be very obnoxious as well.

The Jets fan-base alone can make the AFC East the division with the most obnoxious fans.

I live in NJ dude, I know all about the Jets and their "fans."  Some of my best friends are Patriot fans and I honestly have no qualms with them other than I hate their team.  I honestly have never met a Bills fan in my life.

That said, IMO, the NFC is the worst division in the NFL for fair-weather and biased fans.

Jets fans are assholes. That being said, they hold nothing on Philly or Dallas fans.

I'm from Bills country.  Their fans were obnoxious for years until Buffalo went back to being Buffalo again.  Jets fans have always been obnoxious, but I always laughed at it because if every you needed a definition of Mediocrity it's the Not New Jersey Jets.  I've never really taken shit from a Giants fan, save what Jtex posts on occasion and usually his posts are both hysterical and pretty accurate.

So you've never met a Bills fan, your best friends are both Pats and Jets fans, yet the NFC (East) is the worst-division in the NFL for fair-weathered and biased fans.

You seriously are on some good shit right now (or at least you were at the time of your post).

Jets fans are the #1 most obnoxious fans, period. A close second, however, are the Eagles fans.
Then you have annoying, bandwagon-hopping Patriots fans and ridiculously yet sad-to-watch annoying Bills fans. Finally, you have egotistical, self-centered Dolphins fans (which is also sad b/c they haven't won a title in 40 years and have been dog-shit the last 10 years).

That aformentioned group is no way comparable to Giants and / or Redskins fans in the scale of annoyance and fair-weathered ness.

Even Cowboys fans - who gripe and bitch about everything and think they should play in the Super Bowl every year - are no where near the level of arrogance as Dolphins or Patriots fans.

I seriously have no idea where all of these arrogant and self-centered Dolphins fans are. If anything, they seem to be the opposite because of how bad we've been for some time now. I'll agree that Pats fans can fall into those categories because of how well they've been doing. My best friend's family is from Boston and are big Pats fans and each time a flag is thrown against Brady or the Pats, they can't believe it.

^ Every fan base has arrogant / annoying fans who probably out-shine the rest of the fans whom are good. But the sheer volume of annoying Jets fans - ALONE - makes the AFCE a bad bunch. Any Dolphins, Bills, or Pats fan can attest to that.

Oh, I don't doubt that. Pretty much every Jets fan I've been around in South Florida have been loud-mouths and beyond obnoxious.

This is all a matter to an opinion.  Leave it to a Ginas fan to tell someone an opinion is wrong.  Tex, buddy, huge thing you're overlooking is the area in which your reside, and the strength in numbers.  I'm going to assume you live in Florida, thus your hard on for hating the Dolphins, but the x-factor in that is..you're probably surrounded by them.  Same thing for me.  I reside in the fair-weather capital of sports, in the Tri-State area (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York for those of you that are sheltered).  I can't say that I personally know a Redskins fan, but the amount of BS I hear from Cowboy, Giants, and Eagles fans is enough to EASILY make that division the biggest turd in the NFL.  At least that's how I see it.  I know a handful of Dolphin fans personally..and none of them remind anyone of the Perfect Season..not one of them use the phrase "this one proud franchise,"....we just want a QB..that's basically what it comes down to...

I like how you conveniently left the Giants out of your argument, so allow me to give my personal explanation as to why I'll give a huge middle finger to the Giants.  First and foremost, it's been already mentioned that NYC is full of assholes..so that's one.  Two, Just like how you say "every" Dolphin fan reminds you of the perfect season, a Giants fan will be the first one to remind you that they beat the Patriots.  Because, they're bitter that the Sports Media world, doesn't acknowledge the Giants BEATING the Patriots, rather The Patriots "falling short of the perfect season."  It's almost like the Giants and their fan base are just the little kid brother of the Cowboys just begging for attention..even though they haven't done anything to deserve attention for about half a decade now.
