Do you like Tebow?

That's what I'm trying to get across. Most of the hatred of him comes from the media, and is not his fault.

I don't think it's the media.  Just as much of the media thinks he's a hack, as thinks he's great.  It's more the community of his supporters, around the league.  He's just a divisive guy and he's the epitomy of the philosophy behind skill vs. results.

He's not a good player.
He wins, therefore he's a good player.

People have different ways of rating players.  Tebow falls in there.

Because the media is constantly gargling his balls, and you can't turn on a single sports-related show without 35 minutes of Tebow-fest, I have grown to hate the guy.  I'm especially sick of him getting credit for McGahee's runs, for Thomas's huge after the catch jaunt, and every Prater FG.  They should just rename the team to the Denver Tebows.

So, I am the lone "no" vote.

It may not be his fault, but such is life.

Voted with you. He maybe a nice guy, but I cannot stand him for the same reason I cannot stand anyone else who believes strongly in something and is always putting it out non stop.

Good QB, NO! (and I was on the Tebow bandwagon earlier this year, but I bailed. A few lucky wins and breaks that go his way doesn't change things for me. Completing 6 and 10 passes a game isn't good)

Here's my problem -

Most people agree he is a terrible QB.  Then why all the hype?  Why not give some of that coverage to a guy who has some skill?  If his name was Howard Smith, with those QB skills, he'd be on a practice squad somewhere.  What is it about this guy that is so intriguing?

The thing about Tebow is that he presents a very different match-up than 30 of the other 31 starting quarterbacks in the league. The fact that he's SO much worse at passing than the other guy (Cam Newton), makes it more likely for teams to just go ahead and play man-coverage all day long. If your starting free safety can't play in Denver ('cause his blood would coagulate) and your players (and possibly) coaches were pretty much looking past the game to the Patriots... well, then you might just lose .

Tebow is great fun to watch. He really is. He's a HORRIBLE passer and not even the best at what he does best, but he's on a team that really suits him and he's not easy to game plan against. And, most importantly for me (not being a Broncos fan), HE'S GREAT FUN TO WATCH!

Too bad the Patriots are going to demolish him on Saturday.

Sorry, did any of you guys actually watch the game? He put the TD pass to Royal in a tiny hole, made a couple of nice back shoulder throws, and dropped two deep balls over defenders into his receivers. Are you saying he sucked at passing for the entire rest of the season? That I get. Saying he still sucked yesterday I don't get. He made some quality passes that had nothing to do with blown coverage or receiver stiff-arms. -EK

The hype is due to the winning and the craziness of how its gone down. Simple as that. The Broncos wanted to start him after last season, but felt he wasn't ready. Wound up using him at one point anyway and the rest, as they say, is history.

Another part is the entertainment factor. The guy is fun to watch (I've been saying that a lot, I know).

Lastly, he really does present a match-up that's different than just about anything else before this season (Cam Newton is much the same, just better), with Vick probably being the closest, but their style of running is so different it's really not the same. Vick you could handle with a spy, whereas Tebow is more a power running back.

You could ask why Cam Newton isn't getting the same attention and of course the religious aspect does play a part, but if you had switched Cam Newton and Tim Tebow around, I'm willing to bet that Tebow wouldn't be getting ANY attention (anymore). Newton just got stuck playing on a horrible Panthers team. In large part thanks to him, the offense really performed exceptionally well (4th best overall), but with defense and special teams WORST in league, well, you don't even get to back into the playoffs at 8-8 -- especially not with the Saints and Falcons in your division.

Bottom line is, Tebow is a great story. He's fun. The story is fun. The victories have been crazy (lucky)... all that just contributes.

I hope Tebow gets to stay long enough, and is willing to work hard enough, that he can improve to somewhere near Cam Newton's rookie year passing abilities.

He had one or two good passes and missed a bunch of WIDE open receivers on simple routes. Seriously, if you have rewind, go back and watch every single pass attempt. There were only 21 of them, so it won't take long. One or two good passes, about 10 okay passes, and a lot of bad to very bad stuff.

So, yes, his passing was BAD if you actually look at the game. (If you insist that winning is everything or that yards per attempt is everything, then fine, he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.)

The thing is- MOST people don't agree that he is a horrible QB. Most people HERE think that, but turn on ESPN, NFL network, or any of the major sports media, and you'll find that people who think he sucks are pretty evenly divided at this point. Even Stephen A. Smith- who has been Tebow's most vocal critic- was speechless today except for praise of his play.

FYO, again, not sure what you were watching, but even taking away the 80 yard game winner- in the second quarter alone, he had passes of 51, 30, 58 and 40 yards. PLUS the TD pass. That's more than 2, no? -EK

He only completed 10 passes the entire game. He completed 6 the week before. That's not good. In regulation yesterday Tebow threw for 236 yards and had a whopping 9 completions. That's a regulation game and those stats aren't good. In the 2nd half the Broncos offense did nothing, they did nothing at all. He made one play in overtime (god bless him,...literally)!

Yes they won. But to think you will win on a regular and consistent basis with between 6 to 10 completions in a game is fooling yourself. YES, you can win on occasion doing that cause a WR breaks a big play or something goofy happens or the opponent is having an off day.

But the people who want to use the Pitt game as proof he is a good QB and there is no denying it now, NO, just NO! And those same people then  have to accept that others are going to use the Buffalo, KC, and New England games as proof he isn't any good because he was beyond god friggin awful in those games. What those games don't count now? Those were defacto playoff games in that Denver needed just to win 1 to get a playoff spot. So those games and those stats don't count?

Bottom line, Tebow caught the right team on the right day and had 1 good quarter.  I'm not saying he will never be a quality QB, maybe he will in time. But right now he isn't and he is far from it. I mean TJ Yates also won a playoff game this weekend and was 11-20 passing compared to Tebows 10-21, I don't see people doing back flips over him all of a sudden.

Tebow's last pass in regulation was a one-hopper to a wide-open receiver.  His defense bailed him out, yet again.

Against a defense that kept blitzing the safeties. DO they do that against a team they recognize to have a really good passer? No, because you will get burned. Tebow is not recognized around the league as a good passer and this defense decided to come after him with the safeties and left their corners against a tall, athletic receiver one on one, and they got burned.
Will other teams learn from this? Yes. Will Tebow get a shot at a team with a depleted offense that does not force him to continually score this post season? No
The Broncos have capitalized on their opportunities against teams that are not playing well or have been hurt by injuries.
I might believe in Tebow when they finally beat a legitimate playoff team that has not been hurt by injuries. Until then, they are a decent team feeding off weaker ones.
