Kyle Williams is the goat for sure...those two return blunders, for time and situation, were about as big as mistakes get. Spidey's perpetual anti-49ers whining aside, the better team won that game. The Giants defense was tough all game, especially on 3rd down, and SF couldn't maintain any long drives.

Even with the loss, I'm proud of the run my football team went on this season, and think they have the talent to be right back in contention next year. Props to the Giants on the W...hope they destroy the Patriots and keep the title in NFC hands.

As you should be.  Going from 6-10 to 13-3 and in the NFCCG is a huge jump and knocking out the Saints is nothing to sneeze at.  The coach clearly has the team going on the right path.

Do you think the outcome would have been different if Ginn was handling return duties?

^^^ Hard to say. I wouldn't normally expect Kyle Williams to make those mistakes, so how could I say that Ginn would have avoided that bounce, or held on to the ball when the defender slapped at it.

One thing is certain...the 49ers definitely need to add some receiving talent this offseason, whether it be a highly drafted rook or a FA signing. Vernon Davis is a beast, but he can't do it alone. Crabdiva is talented but inconsistent, and while I hope that is something that will come with more maturity, I won't hold my breath while the hoping is going on.

It certainly does appear that the 49ers have turned the page, and with a little roster tweaking will be regularly competing with NO and GB for NFC titles.

I gotta give the 49'ers credit Sunstroke, their defense has impressed me. Smith however does not and I think the turnover ratio was something of an aberration. I don't think they'll be 13-3 next year, but they probably won't have to and will probably still win the West.

Congrats on turning the corner.

Now can you please remove the curse on the Dolphins? Please. Smiley

What you say is true, however, I'm surprised you would say this the day after such a devastating loss.  I'm never deeply affected by what happens with the Dolphins, but if they had lost a game like this, I would be focusing on how close they came and what went wrong the day after the game.  I guess it's different when you've witnessed five Super Bowl championships.  I definitely see the 49ers taking the division again next year, however.
