If it literally means nothing and you can't judge anything at all by it, why didn't all the "better" receivers have bigger games than Brandon? Surely with the talent there that Mike believes to be better than him, SOMEONE would have had better- strike that- even comparable stats. No one did. Believe it's meaningless all you want. The fourth TD reception was an amazing catch in ANY game. The juke he put on TWO defenders for the 76 yarder was amazing in ANY game. -EK

As Aaron Rodgers said the other day, most of the players (on the NFC side at least) who showed up at the pro bowl put out no effort at all during the game or flat out didn't want to play and be on the field. That's coming from Aaron Rodgers! And if you think the AFC side was any different you are fooling yourself.

Sorry for not being excited about a players "stats" in a pro bowl game. It's like being excited that someone won a pro wrestling match and that should count as a "win" in their armature wrestling career. Wrestling is Wrestling...right?! A football game is a football game? Right? Of course not, because all things aren't equal! Just as Pro Wrestling isn't real Wrestling. the Pro Bowl isn't like a NFL football game. It's an exhibition with "special" and "unique" rules.

I am NOT knocking Marshall. In the Pro Bowl  he did well. He broke all sorts of records for that "game". GOOD JOB for Marshall. I am ONLY saying good things about Brandon Marshall right now, don't tell you will have an issue with that? I am not knocking Marshall, but I ain't giving him extra credit or extra props either for stats in a pro bowl game where defenses aren't allowed to blitz, play press coverage, MUST line up in the same 4-3 formation on every play and as Aaron Rodgers said half the players there didn't want to be on the field and a vast majority of the ones that were on the field put out no effort!

Mike I get that, but all season long you've said how he didn't belong in the Pro Bowl, he wasn't an elite receiver, etc., but every receiver in that game played under those same rules/conditions. You're saying now that you're not knocking him, but that his stats are meaningless and you appear to believ it was a hollow accomplishment. My point is that if the coverage and defensive schemes are the same for everyone playing, why didn't one of the "more elite" receivers match what Marshall did? Surely if he's not even as good as some teams second guy- as you have said numerous times- then someone- ANYONE- would have played as well or better. No one did, so all things being equal, as they were, I'm not getting why you would congratulate him on one hand, and immediately undercut what he did on the other, when no one else looked better.

Regarding the original topic, I don't have a problem with what he said. He didn't say anything that the entire planet didn't already know. Moore is limited in what he brings. We all agree on that. Saying it out loud- basically telling the truth- shouldn't offend anyone. He didn't say, "we lost games, or "the only reason I dropped balls," was because of Moore. He said he wanted an elite QB. Actually, did he even say that or did he say, "I'd be like this more if I had one of these elite QBs throwing it."? 2/3 of the receivers in the league would be "better" with Rivers or Ben throwing them the ball. Saying Moore is not elite isn't the same as saying he stinks or blaming him for losing. I don't personally see what the big issue is with his comments. -EK

As Aaron Rodgers said, most players didn't care about that "game". Which I give Marshall credit for, showing up and trying. Putting out an effort. KUDOS to Marshall!  But to judge him off "that game" and to give him extra credit and heap praise on him based on his stats silly. I am not undercutting him at all.  Nobody gets credit for playing well just as nobody gets ripped for playing poorly. Everything is being treated equally. It's not a real game! It's not real rules. It's a glorified sand lot game.

IMO, it is Moore who needs an elite WR. Hey, BM don't let your head swell over doing well in a meaningless game that no one is trying to win.

So you're saying that Moore has potential?

If I get to clamor for an elite QB, then why shouldn't the guy who would most directly benefit from an elite QB be allowed the same?  By all means, Marshall, keep talking!

Moore did well last year as far as I'm concerned. For the past few years I have heard plenty of people say "give Henne one more chance", even after proving himself to be garbage. Maybe if we don't sign someone in time we can cut Moore and give Henne the job back!!!

Matt Moore wouldn't be out of line for suggesting Miami get better WR's either.

That is what I said. BM says he needs an elite QB. I say Moore needs an elite WR....A decent RT would not hurt either!

If Matt Moore wins Pro Bowl MVP, and lobbies for better receivers in the interview afterwards, I will give him every bit of slack that I am giving Brandon Marshall right now.

Until then...

The difference here is Marshall IS an elite receiver.  Moore is NOT an elite quarterback.

That, my friend is a matter of opinion. I am not saying Moore is the answer, but I believe he overachieved and will at the very least be a solid backup.

Don't get me started on Marshall. I never liked the deal. I think he has problems, cost too much and when the game is on the line, BM gets the dropsies. I also don't care for a player who is as vocal as BM is. There has to be better options.

PS. Don't get too excited about him being a Pro Bowl MVP. That game is one thread away from being canceled for good. The fans are tired of the players not trying. All it is , is a free vacation to Hawaii.

And yet, Marshall beat out like 30 other guys to get there. Whether it's a sandlot game or not, he produced the third best season by a WR in Dolphin's team history. He's CLEARLY a better WR than Moore is a QB. That can't even be a debate. -EK

Hard to argue with his numbers and being picked over the others. Don't misunderstand, I like him. He isn't my favorite, but he is the best we currently have. I would love to see them go get a huge guy like Calvin Johnson. Maybe we should draft a college basketball Center. lol  Grin
