I'm glad the Giants won, and good for them, but why would anyone conradulate Jtex? He didn't play for them! -EK
that's his team. He wears their colors. If the Dolphins would have won I'm pretty sure you would have gotten congratulations on "your" team winning.

I guess. I mean I see wear you're coming from, but it just seems silly. I would have felt dumb if Miami won, and someone congradulated me. True story- I was having a conversation with a friend a few years ago who played with the Cowboys during the 80s. I kept referring to Miami's awful season in terms of, "Our defense, our QB, we should have done this or that, etc." He finally stopped me and said, "You realize, you didn't play a down for the team, right? Do you know how dumb it sounds to keep saying 'we' like you had some sort of effect on the outcome?" Ever since, I realize the silliness of it, so that's just my slanted POV. That's why I try to refer, as often as I can, to my favorite team as "The Dolphins" in these threads, not "us" or "we." -EK

Joe didn't gloat the night of the SuperBowl either. Believe it or not, that's isn't Joe's style.

Couldn't agree more. Unless I suit up, I don't take credit or blame from them.

Well I have an opposite story.  Our soccer club just merged with the local USLPRO team Orlando City. They won the championship last year and are on the shortlist to become the next MLS team. The professional people are adament that we pass along the "we" mentality meaning "we" are on the short list to become the next MLs franchise or "we" jusrt signed Rooney (Wayne's brother) or "we" just tied Seattle yesterday etc. They are bringing that mentality to all of the Orlando area.

As a fan of any team I'm pretty sure it is expected of any fan to be a we and not an us or them.

Sounds like the guy you were talking to has a stick wedged up his backside...

As a fan of any team I'm pretty sure it is expected of any fan to be a we and not an us or them.

That's more like it...

When I refer to the teams I cheer for, it's "We" or "Our."

"We need to get more stability at our QB position."

I may not make a single reception, or tackle...but I put a lot of time and energy into supporting "my" teams, so I feel completely justified in applying the possessive pronouns.

For the money many fans pay for PSL's these days it is a "we", "us", and "our" situation.

That's a whole different level of insanity. For a PSL, you're not even paying for a stake in the team. You're paying for the right to purchase tickets. Meaning, you still have to buy season tickets on top of that.
