Presumably to grab RG3

Cost reportedly - 1st, 2nd, and two future 1sts.  Rams pick up 2 future firsts and a 2nd to move down 4 spots from 2 to 6.

Steep price.  Glad it wasn't the Dolphins mortgaging the farm like that.

considering from what i read it was the redskins and dolphins leading the pack for Peyton, guess that means the dolphins have a clear shot at him now.

Steep price is an understatement.  This is flat out robbery.  If the Redskins suck and the Rams end up with an extra high pick, then it's grand theft.

They gave up a lot to get him. But its a QB league and if he is the real deal then it was worth it

If he's not the real deal, the entire redskins front office should be given their walking papers.

That's exactly what I didn't want the Dolphins to do.

Trouble is, you can't fire the owner.  Especially a guy like Dan Snyder who is a billionaire and has the Redskins as his adult toy.

So to put this in perspective:

Eli has won two titles (both as Super Bowl MVP).  He's essentially already delivered as much as you can expect from a #1 overall.  In complete hindsight, would he have been worth 3 firsts and a second?  (He was traded for 2 firsts, a third, and a fifth.)

That will always be debatable. Personally, I don't think Eli should have been MVP in either Super Bowl.

The Skins got ass raped. lol RG3 had better be the second coming of Joe Montana, otherwise they are SCREWED! lol

Oh, and from the article:

Quote
The trade will not change the Redskins' plans in pursuing Peyton Manning. They still intend to talk with, and try to sign him, even if they are considered a longshot.
"Hey Peyton, would you like to spend the rest of your career with our 5-11 team that won't have a first-round pick until 2015?"

They didn't trade up to #1 overall, they traded to #2 overall.  Remember in 1998, when there were 2 QB's rated to go 1-2?  One of them panned out - the one picked first.  The other...  well...

Just sayin'...

Remember in 2005 when there were two QBs that were both in contention for the #1 pick?  The one that was picked first turned into Alex Smith.  The other one turned into Aaron Rodgers.

If Luck had decided to come out last year, would that have made Cam Newton worse and RG3 better?  I wouldn't get too hung up on the #1/#2 thing.

In 2004 you had Eli, Big Ben, and Rivers.  They have all turned out pretty good.

I don't understand your point

Only that sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. At least Indy is in a better position to build around Luck, than Washington is for RG III. Given Washington's track record in free agency, it doesn't look good. This has all the making for an ESPN documentary in 2022. "One For Luck, 3 for RG3".

Hell yeah! And anyone who says they wouldn't is lost on the issue! I would have given that up for just 1 super bowl championship let alone 2!
