Remember in 2005 when there were two QBs that were both in contention for the #1 pick?  The one that was picked first turned into Alex Smith.  The other one turned into Aaron Rodgers.

If Luck had decided to come out last year, would that have made Cam Newton worse and RG3 better?  I wouldn't get too hung up on the #1/#2 thing.
I think you further emphasized my point here, which is that just because guys are rated 1 and 2 on the draft board does NOT meant that they are both guaranteed brilliant careers.  Not necessarily any correlation to position.  Just pointing out the obvious fact that neither Luck nor RG3 are guaranteed entities right now.  They could end up being Matt Leinart and Akili Smith.

Well, at the end of the day, if you're the Redskins and you've sucked for the last 20 years, what's 5 more?

The risk is worth it.

Exactly! Washington is in the same boat as Miami, they have nothing to lose!

Overpay for Manning or Flynn. Give up a ton of picks for a RGIII type. if it works you hit jackpot. If it doesn't, nothing has changed you are in the same position as before.

At least Indy is in a better position to build around Luck, than Washington is for RG III.

Huh?? Indy is in a position to build around Luck?? Indy won how many games last year??  They have released or cut how many starters from last year's team??  I guess if you consider starting with a hole in the ground a "better position" to build around then you are right.

In spite of the Giants' Super Bowl victory, Washington plays in a division that is pretty balanced, without an elite team.  With the additionof an elite QB they could win or compete for their division title consistently.  BUT, if RGII turns out to be just another average QB their franchise is toast for the next four years.  Not the kind of gamble I'd want the Dolphins to take.
