Trade makes sense now and getting 2 third round picks is a steal

Ben Volin reports this would be Marshall's "3rd strike" if this story is true and a 1 year suspension from the NFL would go into effect

from the report:

The question then becomes, if the Dolphins knew, did the Bears?  And will the Bears care?  There could be some rule or bylaw somewhere allowing the Bears to bail on this one if the Dolphins were aware of pertinent information and failed to share it.

I would like to think something like this was fully disclosed before the trade, but, who knows?

Anyways, I never got to post yesterday after the trade, I was busy with some things at home.

I'm kinda torn on this trade.  we got 2 really good years out him, but I believe we can all agree that they were a tumultous 2 years, correct?  Yes, his 15.0 ypc was his highest ever I believe for a season, but there some times in games where he made  bone-headed moves (running out of bounds on his own on a long pass play) OR dropping TD passes (5 by my count).

I don't know if this trade makes way for Manning to come to MIA or not.  I hear rumors that Manning did not want Marshall on the team and now I see Reggiw Wayne re-signed with IND.  so much for all that talk Reggie gave on WQAM about coming to MIA and excited about it (IT'S A BUSINESS!)

these guys talk out both sides of their mouths.  at the end of the day it comes down to one thing in this league.....$$$$$  and much I can grab.

At this point, I'm so sick of the Peyton talk.  I just want MIA to make some really good FA moves and get a QB in here that can make the Phins competitive, plus I want another Draft that we can get excited about.

So, good luck to Marshall.  Maybe we can make some moves in the draft to get Blackmon, who I believe is a stud and can have an immediate impact.  I bet/watched a lot of OSU games this year, and he was a man among boys, especially with making some difficult catches in the EZ while being covered, unlike our friend Brandon.

I'm not legally minded at all, and especially not on the US situation, but I would imagine caveat emptor applies? Let the buyer beware, unless the Bears asked specifically and the Phins lied, I would guess its all fair UNLESS the Dolphins were specifically asked to inform the Bears of any legal issues if they occurred.

I suspect this trade was not a shotgun trade as a result of the legal issues, it's probably been in the works at least few days so I'd be amazed if the legal thing has had a bearing on it other than encouraging us to pull the trigger.

Multiple reports are coming out that the Bears were indeed aware of this incident.  This is probably why the price was two third round picks for a Pro Bowl receiver.

If this is true, I forgive the trade which is otherwise idiotic.  Even if the charges are dropped it is enough to get rid of him considering his history.

What were his first two strikes?

If getting stabbed by his wife counts as a strike, he should sue the NFL.  That would be a mockery of domestic violence laws everywhere.

^^^ From Wikipedia he was arrested March 26, 2007, Oct 22 2007, & March 1, 2009. In some cases charges were dropped but we all know how that works for celebrities in cases that do not involve murdering someone.

Marshall also received a 4 game suspension in Denver and fought it get get it reduced to 3 games.

But honestly that personal conduct stuff can probably be thrown out the window with "strikes" because we have seen in recent years Goodell does what he pleases so if he thinks Marshall deserves a biggie suspension he can just give it to him

2004, while a student at UCF, Marshall was arrested in Orlando on charges of assault on a law enforcement officer, refusal to obey, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer.

Quote
October 22, 2007, Marshall was arrested in the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area at the intersection of 14th and Blake St. for driving under the influence of alcohol

Quote
According to an article published in the Rocky Mountain News on July 28, 2008, Douglas County deputies fielded "about 11" calls to Marshall's home since January 2006. The article stated that one call resulted in Marshall being arrested (the March 26, 2007 domestic dispute)

Quote
On March 1, 2009, Marshall was arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct after allegedly being involved in a fight with his fiancee, Michi Nogami-Campbell. Marshall was released on a $300 bond.

Quote
On April 23, 2011, Marshall was stabbed near his stomach by his wife, Michi Nogami-Marshall. He was taken to a hospital and was released two days later.

Quote
On early Sunday, March 11, 2012, two days before his trade to the Bears, Marshall was accused of hitting a woman in the face at a New York club and being involved in a melee. The New York Post stated that Marshall, his wife and some friends were at Marquee when a brawl ensued, and Marshall punched the woman below her left eye, although he may have been attempting to hit the woman's friends

He is just the unluckiest man in the world. And according to him none of those incidents were "his fault"

You also missed the night Darrent Williams was shot in Denver outside a nightclub, Marshall was the one who instigated the fight in the night-club and the bullet that killed Williams was intended for Brandon

I heard something like that.  Something along the lines of he was spraying champagne and some of it splashed onto a gang member.  Instead of apologizing and offering to replace the gang members clothes, he started talking shit and Williams had to intervene.  If I was Marshall, I would've demanded a trade immediately after that incident for my own safety.

So...is Marshall back with his crazy wife that stabbed him??  She always seems to be around when trouble occurs.
