Kim Bokamper reporting Miami about to re-sign Paul Soliai

Don't get the move honestly. We are somewhat deep at DT and have no pass rushers.  Giving Soliai big money still doesn't help our pass rush.

Soliai is a great player, but this was a luxury signing in my opinion. We would have been fine with Starks, Oddrick, Merling in a DT rotation and adding  a body for depth. Hell we could have kept Kendall Langford for less money at DT. And I think we still have Tony McDaniel on the roster too. In a 4-3 defense (which from all accounts we are playing) we are loaded with DT's but have few pure pass rushing DE's. Came Wake and who else?  Unless they think Oddrick can be a pass rushing presence from DE in a 4-3.

This move also might take Miami out of a DE at #8 of the draft. Maybe forces us to WR there. Michael Floyd? And if that's the case why not talk with Pitt about Mike Wallace. He is better than any WR we get #8 and he is only 25 years old!!

I like what he offers the team, but I can't say I agree with the move.  This was the one guy I thought we were truly overpaying and didn't really need all that much.

I hope the contract is reasonable and that he realized he isn't he isn't in as high a demand elsewhere as he may have thought.  Maybe we get a steal.

Just read something similar on twitter.  Scrapping his trip to Denver, etc.

I'm all for keeping Miami's defense in tact as much as possible, but Soliai is probably getting overpaid as we speak (or type)

The ONLY way this move makes sense is if Miami thinks Oddrick can be a pass rushing thread from DE in a 4-3 defense. If they think so, that takes Miami off pass rusher at #8 and solves their d-line problems.

If they STILL need to draft a Pass Rusher in rounds 1 or 2, then this is a silly signing and a dumb one!

This is a move I could get excited about.....I like Wallace a lot.

This move makes sense because Odrick can shift inside to DT and Merling can play as a 4-3 DE.  Those were their positions in college.

Hmm, where have I heard that idea before?

Merling sucks though. He has shown nothing in his NFL career. To depend or bank on him as a "starter" would be a HUGE mistake

His rookie year, he sniffed out a screen pass, picked it off, and took it back 25 yards for a touchdown.  And this was playing as a 3-4 DE which is unnatural for him

The Dolphins have re-signed DT Paul Soliai to a 2 year deal worth $12 million. $6 mill guaranteed.

One play in 4 years (and it was a gift from Farve). Like I said, he has done nothing

Wouldn't call this a bargin, but not that bad of a deal..I was expect a far more expensive contract.

So basically Miami can't afford either Peyton nor Flynn.  Awesome

^^Why not? They have basically the same amount as before they traded Marshall. What they gained in Marshall's departure they used on Paul. Flynn is still an option. I don't believe Manning EVER was. -EK
