From Armando's article today

http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/

MIA needs to trade up to Cleveland alright, but not for Tannehill, but for Justin Blackmon.  The guy is a cant miss at WR.  I watched alot of OSU games this year and the guy has great hands, is big & athletic, and very physical.

I say we hold off on the QB reach at No. 8 and wait till later in the draft, possibly look at Kirk Cousins out of MSU.

^^^ I have a feeling Cousins is going to move up into the early second round, which is a little high for where I value the guy. As I noted in a different thread, I'd like to see Miami take a 3rd-4th round flyer on either Russell Wilson from Wisconsin or Kellen Moore from Boise State.

I like Blackmon as well...and would have no problem with Miami taking him at #8 if he's still on the board.

I feel like even a "can't miss" guy will be a miss on this team.  The entire team is set up to fail.

I'm a little worried about Blackmon's size. He's listed at 6'0 which isn't that tall for a WR. I've heard that standing next to him he appears to be more like 5'10 or so.

Plaxico Burress is 6'5" and his vertical range (while jumping) is 10'8".
Blackmon is 6'1", but his vertical range is 10'11".
I wouldn't worry about his height.

I wasn't worried about it till I heard someone mention it. Can't remember who exactly, I think I was watching ESPN and someone mentioned it. They didn't make a big deal out of it, but still said it was something to keep in mind. Probably not that big of a factor for Miami and a west coast offense.

I wouldn't have a problem taking him if he's there at #8, but I think there's less chance of that happening then there is of Tannehill being there.

I'd love to have Blackmon to work with in this new offense.  He's much more of a can't miss prospect than Tannehill.  In fact, I think we could find a QB just as good as Tannehill in rounds 2-5 pretty easily.  But then again, I have an extremely poor opinion of Tannehill after watching him play almost every weekend last year.  I'd rather have Cousins anyway.

I'd be in favor of trading up to get Blackmon, though.  Use the picks we got for Brandon Marshall to move up to get him.  This team needs a major talent upgrade at the WR position.

If you get Blackmon you might as well bring in Weeden.

Which begs the question did Blackmon make Weeden look better than he is or vice versa? Perhaps a bit of both?

I have no problem with bringing both of those guys in...provided they don't mind working for the GM that insulted their former teammate, that is.

Well, if Blackmon is gonna hang with Dez we would be better off not taking him.

I don't think they will trade up.  I think chances are better that they trade down.  We could go QB, WR, RT or pass rusher with our first pick all of those choices would be equally valid.  This allows us a lot of flexibility.  We could trade down and still get a quality player in one of those spots.

It all comes down to our draft board and if there are any surprises in the first 7 picks.

I can hear the moans and groans when it happens too.  Not that it would be justified.  I would be totally fine with going lower in the first round to pick up a second.

NFL Network said 2 teams to watch for that could trade up for Tannehill are Philadelphia and Kansas City

Vick's 6 year $100 mill deal he signed last year isn't really 6 years, they can get out of it shortly if they want without too much damage and plus as he gets older (31 now) his speed will start to decline. They want to be prepared for life after Vick. And KC wants a QB badly.

The solution is real simple. Talk with Philly and KC about trading down. Gauge their interest. See what they are offering to move up to #8 and then you will know whether or not you should be worried about them moving to #7 and what they would be willing to give up to move to #7 and then plan appropriately. Now maybe Philly and KC would be wise to that and not interested in talking with you, but if that's the case, then I think you can assume they are not THAT interested in getting Tannehill. Miami hasn't tipped their hand yet on Tannehill, if they were THAT interested, they would consider all possible trade partners including Miami.
