Well, if Blackmon is gonna hang with Dez we would be better off not taking him.

As long as Blackmon isn't hanging out with Dez's mother...

The solution is real simple. Talk with Philly and KC about trading down. Gauge their interest...

As I said a while back, and on more than one occasion...anything that gives us more draft assets that we could use for "next year," the happier I'll be. I just don't see Tannehill as a franchise QB, and believe Miami would have a better chance of landing that type of top-shelf young QB in the 2013 draft.

So, trade-downs are good... Dealing players for draft picks...good. Auctioning off lap dances from some of our minority celebrity owners in exchange for draft picks...good.

If Cleveland doesn't draft Tannehill, we should trade down to some team that does want him. I don't think he is the answer, but having an extra first rounder or more would go a long way in recovering from the current disaster we found ourselves in.

Tannehill is not the answer, he's just another new warm body for people to boo and blame Ireland for.

The solution is real simple. Talk with Philly and KC about trading down. Gauge their interest. See what they are offering to move up to #8 and then you will know whether or not you should be worried about them moving to #7 and what they would be willing to give up to move to #7 and then plan appropriately. Now maybe Philly and KC would be wise to that and not interested in talking with you, but if that's the case, then I think you can assume they are not THAT interested in getting Tannehill. Miami hasn't tipped their hand yet on Tannehill, if they were THAT interested, they would consider all possible trade partners including Miami.

Looks like if a team wants Tannehill they will need to get to 3 above Cleveland. Otherwise its a huge risk of not getting him

Trading down and passing on top players to add multiple marginal players isn't a blueprint to success. Miami needs a big-name impact guy if they don't get Tannehill. Trading down would be foolish. We did that a couple years ago, passed on Earl Thomas when we had a huge need at safety. Added Odrick (when we were already deep at D-line) and Misi (who sucks).  We should have just taken Earl Thomas who is very good and NOT had an issue at Safety as we still do these years later as well have an issue with Misi and he is nothing special!

I'm not buying that Cleveland is gonna take Tannehill at #4 and based on the mock drafts I have seen, no one else is either. Cleveland wants someone to believe that so they'll try to trade up to #4 and acquire some more picks, but I doubt anyone is gonna do that either. Trading up to #2 to get RG3 makes some sense, trading up to get Tannehill doesn't. He BETTER be a franchise player then, otherwise you end up looking silly.

Doesn't matter IF they are gonna take him. They have a few teams THINKING they will take him.

Todd McShay on ESPN the other day said the difference between RGIII and Tannehill is real small. Not much difference at all.

Fine. Go ahead. Take him. Say goodbye to the last few fans you have for passing on Richardson and Blackmon. Smiley

Ugh.  Tannehill's got bust written all over him.

I want to trust Mike Sherman's judgement, but I'm not sure I can.

Armando's article today addresses McShay: The draft turns with Cleveland's pick

http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/#storylink=cpy

"It's frustrating, I know, when you look at Tannehill and how quickly he's risen in only 19 starts, and the production isn't elite and the completion percentage and all of that, but I would have a very difficult time passing on him at that number 4 pick," he said. "I just think that he has everything you look for in a future franchise quarterback if you develop him properly and you're willing to be patient.  So that's where Colt McCoy comes in to me.

He's an idiot, McSuck.  In one breath he says how Tannehill is not elite, but then says at the No. 4 pick, it would be difficult to pass on him. WTF?!?!?!?

Seriously, these talking heads are talking out both sides of their mouths.  I hope teams around the league are not influenced by this garbage talk, especially coming from people like him and Peter "in my mouth" King.

Seriously, this ALL ABOUT VALUE and at the No. 4, or No. 8 spot for that matter, Tannehill is not value.  I don't mind them trading up, but the players, WR, RB, QB, etc, better be a stud.

I still want Blackmon.

Few QB's are "elite" right out of college. That is his point. It takes time to groom them. Just because he isn't elite right now doesn't mean he can't be. Dalton wasn't elite last year, he turned out fine for Cincy. When Brees went in Rd 2 back in the day he wasn't elite then, he is elite now.

McShay's point is Tannehill has all the tools to be elite. Some guys don't have the tools or the gifts to ever be elite no matter how hard they work.
