I started a new thread on this one hoping that someone in the media might pick it up and do a bit of legwork.

My concern with Tannehill is that he seems like a quiet natured kind of guy.  We sort of saw that with Henne and I am a bit concerned that it could translate into insufficient QB leadership.  Many people point to Eli Manning as a guy who was quiet and gradually worked his way into a more leadership roll.  But Tannehill doesn't have the benefit of his last name being Manning and I am not sure his leash will be nearly as long.

The great QB's all seem to be outspoken guys.  I realize that confidence tends to bring out leadership qualities, but how long would it take a guy like Tannehill to get there on an NFL level?  Although Weedon is a good bit older (obviously), he does seem to have the confidence you would look for.

My thought is this...  Maybe it would be better to have a guy like Weedon and draft a guy in a few years to groom like you would normally do.  Essentially, Weedon's only knock is his age but he has several quality years in him.  What is so bad about that?  I kind of see Weedon as a Ben Rothlisberger type guy who can come in and perform well very quickly but is being overlooked for reasons that aren't really all that important.  Everyone wants to compare Weedon to Wenke because of the age factor.  Was Wenke really all that bad?  He definately started well on a pretty crappy team and never really recovered once Delhomme started having success.

Tannehill has great measurables and lots of potential, so I am still ok with drafting him.  But my question mark on his leadership personality traits keeps eating at me.

My problem with Weeden is he has really never taken a snap under center and has never had to call a play in a huddle. Combine that with his age and he really seems like more of a project than Tannehill

From the tapes I have saw RT seems to project good leadership skills. I have also seen a sense of urgency, something that seemed to be missing from Henne. I agree. I don't want a quiet, shy QB.

From all the reports I have read he is a total "team" guy. Willing to move positions to help the team and put the teams needs ahead of his and his future goals in college. That shows something. He was liked by his teammates, which says something. I don't know if the guy will be a quality NFL QB, but his "make-up" and personality all seem to rate on the high side of what you want out of an NFL starting QB.
