A different view on this team.

If the team moved- (thought continued) I feel for me,if they moved to L.A. as the L.A. Dolphins and kept the colors an logos,would be very little impact on my loyalty.(IE the Colts,Cardinals,Rams) I'd have much harder time if they did a Cleveland browns to the Baltimore Ravens,or Houston Oilers to Titans...

I feel like this for the most part. As long as they are still the Dolphins I will most likely stick with them. I have no ties to Miami the city and grew up as a fan of the team. However a name change would probably kill that and I would take the Cardinals as my #1 team instead of my distant second.

Oh, and my new favorite team the Cardinals!

That is only one of two ways it could go down -- Ross is enticed to move the team.

The other way (and the one I would consider more likely than Ross moving the team) is somebody(s) from LA comes to Ross and offers to buy the team for the purpose of moving the team to LA.  Something tells me 5-10% over what he paid for it would be about all it would take. 

I don't see that way happening. Because buying the Dolphins also means also buying SUN LIFE STADIUM, it's a package deal. And who will want to own that stadium with no team in it. Marlins...gone. Dolphins would be gone. You would own an empty stadium in a city with no team able to move in it which would be a headache in and of itself.

You would have to hope the city buys it from you (doubtful in this economy) so they can re-model or rebuild it so they can then try and entice or steal another NFL team away from another city.

I was still living in Oakland when Al Davis moved the team to L.A.  I was not a Raider fan, however 99% of my friends and family were.  They all TRIED to remain fans of the team and simply couldn't, it made them sick to their stomach to see the team on TV.  Yes, there were exceptions to the rule (of course).  The people I knew stuck it out for a while and turned their attention to other teams or, as Dave suggested, lost interest in the league altogether for a while.

I was just a couple hours north of you when this happened and I was a huge Raiders fan, but when they moved I gave up on them. I felt betrayed by Al and his ego.
If Miami moved I would probably switch to Seattle( they are in my neighborhood) or spend some time afloat searching for a new team.

Very interesting thread!  I was among the "live and die" for the Dolphins crowd when I was younger.  And a loss would make me grumpy to be around for the rest of the day.  I wouldn't miss one minute of any of the games.  Now I will try to see most of the games, but if there is something else that I need to do on a Sunday, I don't hesitate to miss the game.  And losses have become so common that they bother me for an hour or two after the game and that is about it.  Of course part of that is due to the fact that I am older now and have family and home responsibilities that don't always allow for football fanatacism anymore.  And moving away from South Florida 6 years ago didn't help either.

The "local" thing won't fly for me with NFL.

I see this EVERYWHERE. People support all their other local pro/college teams but when it comes to the NFL, they don't. Weird.
