...actually kinda cool.

It's so out there and gaudy that I found myself really hoping to see it in action.

I don't hate it nearly as much as I was when I first saw it.

I was watching this weekend when Hanley hit one to center.  My wife was walking by and said "what in the ass is that thing?"  Her reaction made me love it.  She doesn't swear.  Ever.  It's so awful it made my wife swear.  She was also blown away by the color of the walls.

I think it should spin every time something half way decent happens, right down to routine ground outs.

I think people may grow to love it.  Opposing fans will surely hate it and complain about it.

EDIT: I wish it weren't visible when not active.  If it were somehow hidden and then came out of the ground or something, that'd be even cooler.

It's technicolor roadkill... It's what your morning heaves would look like after an evening of eating rainbow sherbet and slamming vodka shots.

Until the Marlins realize how ridiculous that HR sign is, I'm just going to pray for a lot of pitching duels.

You are half right. If it was hidden in the ground it would be cooler for sure.

The Marlins' new logo got puked on when it first came out.  Now, the Marlins hat is the second best seller in baseball

The Marlins' new uniforms got puked on when they first came out, and jersey and t-shirt sales are at a franchise record high.

The Marlins' home run feature is getting puked on, and I suspect that after a while it will become a beloved feature of the ballpark and people will be sad when they take it down.  That feature is the Marlins version of the Tampa Bay pirate ship.

I do agree that it would be better if it came out of the ground though.

^^^ You have to take into account that they do indeed have a new logo and that is the only reason the Marlins cap would be a best seller right now. Once the fan base has gotten their new logo gear you can expect to see the sales drop to a normal level.

^^ Yes, I agree, but the point is that if everyone hated the logo as much as they appeared to when it was first "leaked" then they wouldn't be buying hats with that logo on it, would they?

Plus I have seen many people who don't even know what a ground-rule double is wearing Marlins hats.  You never saw that before.

Anecdotally, Brian is right.  I see a lot of new Marlins hats in the wild right now.  You didn't see a lot of old logo hats floating around last year.

Huh How? I've seen it and I haven't found anything I really like about it.

Interesting blog on ESPN about the Marlins ticket and merchandise sales with the new park/logo...

Still puking on them. And I'm sorry Brian, but the pirate ship is actually pretty cool.

Agreed. And you're always going to have the homers, and the "i don't really care" casual fan buying that swill to be with the "in" thing. If they changed the logo to a flaming turd these groups would still buy it up.

Anecdotally, Brian is right.  I see a lot of new Marlins hats in the wild right now.  You didn't see a lot of old logo hats floating around last year.

When the Heat went on their run to the Finals both times all I saw was Heat merchandise on the street. It's what's popular now.
