If I saw Rex Ryan at dinner, I wouldn't boo him at his table.
I would. Relentlessly.

I don't get why you would "boo" someone outside of their sports venue at all. Many of you find it to be not very "adult" to wear jerseys, but booing someone like an 8 year old is ok? How's that work?
Again, if booing someone is childish, why do it at all?  Ever?

I mean, I can totally understand the position that booing a person, period, is ridiculous (I'm not a big fan of it, myself), but the idea that it's immature to boo Rex Ryan in Miami unless the Jets are playing right this moment is kind of silly.

I have gone to Walmart in full jersey/gear after a game and see fans in opposing team gear and boo'd them.  In jest of course.  They boo me back.  What's the big deal?

Sports is theater.  There are heroes and villains.  It's perfectly acceptable to boo the villains, be they the other team or the refs.  It's part of the show.  I would argue that when these very public figures show up in other prominent events, especially those where they are featured to the public on a big screen or what have you, that it still constitutes part of that audience/villain relationship.  I think both sides understand their role in that.

I find it inappropriate to boo when a celebrity is not making use of their celebrity status, like in a private moment.  Though I would laugh if Rex were walking down the street and got heckled, I myself wouldn't do the heckling.

fuck tebow, i'm so glad he's a jet....can't wait to see the circus that unfolds this year.  all my friends are jets fan and they're all ready to hang themselves.

in defense of the guy who bought tebow, him and his wife are really rich people and are bringing timmy to go spend the day with all the poor kids in the area, it's not so bad.  the quote was kind of hilarious...something along the lines of "hopefully him coming here will fix all these kids problems"  he's not fucking jesus.

Why all the profanity? You are just nasty! Why have you not been banned? What has Tebow done to you? He just raised 100K to help kids and is giving his time. What have you done?

Tebow is not the only guy doing this kind of thing. I do not see him any better than other professional players who do the same thing.

Highest charitable athlete last year was No. 6: Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh at $2.6 million.

6. NFL Player Ndamukong Suh — $2,600,000

$2 million to the Nebraska University athletic department and another $600,000 to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Engineering to endow a scholarship. It is the largest single gift ever from a former football player.

Wow! I was asking the question in jest, but that's pretty amazing. I'm sure there are lots of people who will say, "hey, he makes enough, he SHOULD give that much," but there are tons of other athletes who makes as much or more who didn't give that amount. Good for Suh. That's very cool. In answer to someone else's point about Tebow, I don't know how much he gave last year, but two years ago he donated almost all of his signing bonus ($2.5 million) to several charities, and funded a hospital in the Phillipines to the tune of $3 million last year. Not sure why he isn't listed on the Forbes list for that? -EK

That list is the 2011 donations so if it was in 2010 it wouldn't be there
