I'm just curious, about people that are in serious relationships,or married....

How are the the chores divided up? Are you more traditional?

Do you guy's do what would be traditionally thought of as Womens work? (Laundry, cooking, childcare and cleaning)

Does your wife do any of what traditionally is mens work? (home repair,Lawn care, vehicle, grilling,Child discipline,Technology)

Things are pretty smooth around my household.

I do my own laundry she does hers....I just don't want anyone else to mess with my shit. I like my stuff folded and hung a certain way so it's easier for me to do it.

If I cook my wife cleans, if she cooks I clean....works great.

Living in the desert we have a nice rock landscape with some trees and a couple of shrubs, nothing crazy. I hate yardwork and the heat so I pay a service to come trim the trees, pull any weeds, and rake up the rock. I also have a pool guy because I am too lazy to do that as well in the summer when it is 120 outside.

My son picks up the dog shit every week and feeds and waters the dogs.

We keep everything picked up as a rule so there is no major cleaning to do at one time, we dust, vaccum/mop and clean the bathrooms as needed we all pitch in.

My son and I generally take out the trash.

I pay to have my vehicles maintained and washed....again lazy....notice a theme here.

This all works pretty well as it requires very little time each week to do most of our household chores.

Of course. I'd say I do about 1/3 of the cooking. I don't do the laundry much but that's mostly because she doesn't trust me to do it. I also don't clean all that much but that's because I have a 40 hour a week job and she's a homemaker and keeps the house fairly clean. I will help for special occasions like when company is coming or something. All our kids are grown now, but childcare was split pretty well. I am perfectly capable of changing a diaper (I really don't mind this and I hate when movies portray men as absolute idiots when it comes to doing this. If you suck at this it's not because you're a guy, you're just an idiot), giving a bottle, comforting a sick child, helping with the homework, taking them to school, sports, etc

Of course, she does whatever she feels she can handle. The heavy lifting is mostly left to me, but just about anything else she'll do if she feels she can.

I appreciate the insight, and always seem to learn things...I forget about Az living in the desert, and it being different...The picking up the dog poop, made me laugh.and didn't think of raking the rock.

I would never consider that,my two dogs poop all over the yard.A little rain, and mow the lawn a couple of times,it's gone I don't think about it....

I do appreciate the insight...

My husband rocks. I work part time and go to FAU full time. The majority of the dishes, laundry, cooking etc. fall on him right now and he rocks. I'm a lucky girl.

We split everything down the middle.  he refuses to do bathrooms and I refuse to do floors.  Problem solved.

Fausto does the laundry.  period.  As far as childcare, we're both lucky and when Baby Tex gets here next week, he is able to work from home 1 day a week, and myself 2 (We have a nanny the other 2 days).
Normally cooking is split, too, but being 9 mos. pregnant, he has had to do the lion's share these days.

Fau calls maintenance when something breaks, but anything plumbing related, I pretty much can do no problem (Thanks Dad!).  Let the record show, I am VERY good at grilling but Fau likes fire so he usually takes that job.  We're pretty split on technology as we're both in that field so I would consider us equally savvy.

I'm falling into pretty traditional family roles.  I do very little cleaning or cooking, aside from grilling, or when I want to make something specific for myself.  I do all of the technology stuff, as well as a lot of things that involve spacial awareness or measuring.  ...I'm active in things like choosing and assembling furniture, from a pure usability standpoint.

With the baby, we split responsibilities, though my wife certainly does it more often.

I find that my wife and I have different standards for things like cleanliness.  My bathroom can be gross.  So can hers.  But it will bother her to no end and she'll stress about it until she cleans it.  I just don't carry that stress.   I like a clean bathroom, sure, but ultimately, I don't give a shit.  So, she'll end up cleaning the bathroom before me.  I'm pretty good about doing things I'm told, but rarely recognize things that need to be done and just do them.  I think it is maddening to most women.
