That might be coming after the draft with a free agent pickup. Nobody great but a Plaxico on a 1 year deal or some older WR along those lines to fill the spot for 1 year.

Rome wasn't built in a day. They could address WR a year from now next April. They can't fill EVERY void in one offseason

I like the pick, he probably won't see the field a lot this year, if at all, but it gives Miami insurance towards Bush's contract year and/or Thomas not producing. 

He played kick returner until last Yr when he started... I see the phins using him as a returner as well!

Why do people keep saying he can't catch?

And he has never been seriously injured to my knowledge... he's gotten dinged but returned to the game each time.

Not sure why people say he can't catch, but it's been on a lot of scouting reports. Regarding injury he had a shoulder injury last year that I'm fairly sure required surgery at season's end. -EK

Ben Volin said if the Fins cut Bush and Fassano they open up near $5 mill in cap space. Drafting Egnew and Miller its possible and could be an option now.

Wow! That would be an interesting move. Definitely get younger at TE. Bush is oh 26 though. Not sure how it makes the organization look to reward his first 1000 yard season by cutting him. -EK

Yep he and Gates returning kickoffs could be huge for Miami. Especially since Miami never seems to like to take a knee and runs everything out of the endzone! lol

Also McShay was raving about Miller saying he is an unpolished version of Chris Johnson, not CJ yet but  on the brink of being that type of guy. A one-cut runner with the top flight breakaway speed to take it to the house from anywhere on the field like Chris Johnson. Just that Miller can't pass block at all and needs to improve that to get on the field more. He needs to just fine tune his game and he could be a major impact player in the NFL.

Also just read that Ireland said last night to the press that Miller will be returning Punts for Miami.

I don't dislike this pick exactly, but it's far from a home run. How close is Miami to having more RBs than WRs at this point?

And Tubba- despite what's being reported here, one of the reasons he dropped so far is because he does NOT catch well. Questions about his hands and durability were his biggest weaknesses. -EK

You know that the same thing was said about Emmit Smith, Shaun Alexander, Walter Peyton...  Analyst always say this and that but you dont know what happens when a guy elevates his game

Exactly! Great point, and haters are always gonna hate. Some people will never be pleased with any pick. They expect superstars to be picked through all 7 rounds and will rip the guys we do take before they even step on field for a mini-camp. Bottom line is Miller fits the offense we are now running. Period! Just because he didn't run in a WCO in college means nothing. RGIII ran a spread offense in college and will run Mike Shannanhan's offense in the NFL. Does that make him a bad fit? HELL NO! In Rd 4 you are drafting guys who fit your system and Miller does that. He had a late 1st early 2nd round draft grade and he is there in Rd 4. That is a good pick on a number of levels (BPA, value, scheme fit, need...etc).

I guess some fans thought coming off a 7 win season and three losing seasons in a row, and with a new head coach, and no QB on the roster who is decent, that we were going to make 7 or 8 picks this weekend and automatically be a Super Bowl contender overnight, and be ready to compete with the big boys. Some fans have their head in the sky and don't understand the "process" of building a winning NFL team. The Dolphins were at rock bottom and they are laying the foundation so in 2 or 3 years they will be competing for things.

It ain't gonna happen this year. It wasn't on Thursday at 7:59pm before the draft started nor today the day after the draft.  Miami was/is a BAD NFL football team. They only have so many picks. You can only fix so many problems in one offseason! The biggest needs were on offense (biggest needs by a mile) and they addressed many of them. The results won't be immediate, but the "plan" and the "process" has been laid out and begun!

But its a new coaching staff and a new offensive scheme. You have to adjust to what style you will be playing

It would be hard to convince me that Parcells was not the one calling the shots while he was there. If you compare the drafts, there is a distinct change of strategy and philosophy that started last year and continued this year. Ireland had already dumped the big ugly theory and started getting more athletic players.

Agreed...Parcells had his input on alot of personnel decisions...not saying ireland is blameless, but just knowing Parcells lobbied for Pat White, is enough to tell me ireland was not totally responsible for the 3 previous drafts.

Still way too early, but i like this draft alot...think we can get a few starters (stars) out of this bunch!  Only time will tell!

 The reason he dropped so far is because he had shoulder surgery at the end of last season, but he is fine now.  This was an excellent pickup for the dolphins and he CAN catch well.  Not to mention he is lightning fast!

I know he's fast. Never doubted it. He had the fastest time among RBs at the combine didn't he? Fast means exactly squat if he's not on the field though. How many guys have the Raiders drafted because they were "fast?" If he can catch so well, why did that come up as a weakness for him on every scouting report I read? -EK
