From the Sun Sentinel:

Former Miami Dolphins safety Yeremiah Bell, the longest tenured Dolphin before being released this offseason, apparently won't be out of work for long.

Bell, who led the Dolphins in tackles for four straight years, has worked out for the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans, and will sign with one of those teams.

On Thursday morning Bell's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told WQAM that he's on his way to finalize a contract with the a club, which he wouldn't disclose, and vowed that Bell will be signed "within 24 hours."

"I'm on my way to a mystery team, and I don't want to give away the negotiations. ... It is good for Yeremiah," Rosenhaus said. "They're all great situations because they need help at the safety position. He's certainly looking to continue as a starter, go to a good football team. Each of those scenarios is very promising for him."

hope he does go to the Jets. He is old, slow, and washed up.

Only reason he led us in tackles is because teams targeted him as much as possible last year and threw to his area knowing he couldn't cover a baby with a blanket let alone an NFL receiver/TE/RB. And of course when you target a guy he is in the area and will be in on the tackle. That's why its a mis-leading stat when talking about safety's sometimes.

On every play, we send the tight end across the middle and throw right at Bells ass

He may not even be on the field enough to do that. Isn't he backing up LaRon Landry? Say what you will about him, he led Miami in tackles not just last year, but the last FOUR years. Not sure if that says something about him being good, or the defense being bad. -EK

I have a somewhat funny Bell story.

It's been a few years but we were in the parking lot after the game just hanging out and waiting for traffic to clear and so on. I hear from behind me "Big Papa!!!! ". I turned around and saw this skinny kid with his parents. Maybe it was 2006 or 2007 ... I can't remember. Anyway, he saw Papa Pump and was stopping to talk to him. Pump introduced him as Yeremiah Bell. Turns out his parents couldn't remember where they had parked and they were wandering the parking lot trying to find their car. He was riding home with them so he was lost too.

Anyway, maybe it was the beer but seeing a Dolphin player lost in the parking lot was kind of funny to me.

Getting offended by something you see on the internet is like choosing to step in dog shite instead of walking around it.

I don't care if he's a good player or not (which he is), but he was one of my favorite players.  I'm sad they cut him, and even sadder he signed with the worst team in all of sports.

F the Jets.

Couldn't be happier. Let him make their secondary worse! If he even see's the field and plays.

If a defensive back is your leading tackler, that's a problem.

If a defensive back is your leading tackler, that's a problem.

Fins were #3 vs the Run last year and have been a good to great run defense for a few years now. Of course teams are gonna pass more on Miami. Because they can't run on them!!! When teams pass more on you, of course a secondary person (most likely a roaming safety) will get a lot of tackles! Hence leading the team in tackles.

People put way too much into that "leading tackler" stat. That's like saying Revis doesn't get enough INT's. Well duh, few teams throw at him so his chances for INT's are far less than a bad player! Bell was picked on (because he can't cover, hence more tackles coming his way) and teams threw the ball  more against Miami because they couldn't run on Miami, because the Fins front 7 was very vey good! #3 rush defense in the entire league! That's why a safety will lead the team in tackles. More opportunities than other guys.

You ain't gotta be Scooby Doo to solve this mystery folks!  Grin
