I heard there a lot of stipulations, and normal people will get what's left...So I'm not talking about that stuff,or can you afford to buy it,etc,etc...

Is Facebook a stock you would buy?

No. Facebook will be fade into obscurity along with Myspace when something new comes along.

I might buy it down the road but I'm not buying anything until after the market crashes again.

I would not.  Facebook is already at the top and I don't see where it can improve and get more popular.

I wouldn't say it's a matter of improving so much as what they can buy with their money.  If they manage it right, the name might go away but the company can still remain solid.

I think Facebook is already on the decline.  What could they do to make them more popular?  Eventually they'll start charging people for membership, I'm sure, and then they will lose 80% of their user base.

This was the argument my boss and I had driving back last night, was about facebook. He kept making snarky remarks like,"well if you were on facebook." My reply was double my pay,and I'd become a facebook flunky... Cheesy

I totally agree with it's already declining.I feel like thee move going public, and selling stock, will just acceleration it's decline.I think all the things that people seem to hate about Facebook, with get ramped up in the name of making money, keeping the stock up.I could see Facebook trying to diversify like Google, buy buying smaller idea start ups.IE like they did with instagram.

just my take...

I would agree that it IS in a state of decline.  But it would be worth holding short term say 6 months to a year from now to see what they morph into and what they dip into as far as technology.  If Zuckerberg plays the cards right, he could end up being among Microsoft, Apple and IBM, a mainstay that everyone wants to own a piece of.

If this doesn't go well though, it'll end up like SiriusXM or even I remember when AOL/TimeWarner shit the bed a few years ago.

I don't think Facebook will disappear.  I think the brand is here to stay.  But I don't think that it will reach a higher level of popularity than it is now.  They do have some things going for them -- their ad delivery system is pretty good.  They have a lot of users.  They just need to tone it down a bit when it comes to what kind of info they're connecting.  Gaming over Facebook is very, very annoying for those that don't do it.  Anything that requires you to post to your wall in order to use it needs to be eliminated entirely.  Make it very unintrusive across the board.  It's what made Facebook big to begin with.  Don't forget that.

I agree. Short term I think the stock will go up enough to make a nice profit until the frenzy wears off.

^^ frenzy is a great word.  Its popular now, but its already getting demolished by analysts.  Wait until people start caring about their revenue, and things will change.

I think with growing privacy concerns and a popularity already at its ceiling, I just don't see it as a sound investment.

I can't tell you how many people I've blocked because of Mafia Wars, Farmville, and whatever other idiocy they offer.

I heard this from a news source.  Its a good point that I never even thought about:

As everyone grows up with facebook (particularly our generation), all of our children (and grandchildren) now don't think facebook is "cool" because all of their parents/grandparents are on it.  So, many believe facebook will lose massive market share as time progresses and all the new "hip" children find something better where they won't have to deal with their parents/grandparents.
