I knew that or at least have heard that before. Don't know if it's true or not though. That still has nothing to do with me moving there.

I would NEVER trust a man that said he was on the pill. Period.

We have a lot in common. I don't trust a woman saying that either.

Long ago (not sure if they still do) the Chinese government mandated no more than 2 children per household due to overpopulation.
You're half right.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-child_policy

The one-child policy is the one-child limitation in the population control policy of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The Chinese government refers to it under the official translation of family planning policy. It officially restricts married, urban couples to having only one child, while allowing exemptions for several cases, including rural couples, ethnic minorities, and parents without any siblings themselves. A spokesperson of the Committee on the One-Child Policy has said that approximately 35.9% of China's population is currently subject to the one-child restriction. The Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau are completely exempt from the policy. Also exempt from this law are foreigners living in China.

This policy was introduced in 1978 and initially applied to first-born children in the year of 1979. It was created by the Chinese government to alleviate social, economic, and environmental problems in China, and authorities claim that the policy has prevented between 250 and 300 million births from its implementation until 2000, and 400 million births from 1979 to 2011. The policy is controversial both within and outside China because of the manner in which the policy has been implemented, and because of concerns about negative social consequences. The policy has been implicated in an increase in forced abortions, female infanticide, and underreporting of female births, and has been suggested as a possible cause behind China's gender imbalance. Nonetheless, a 2008 survey undertaken by the Pew Research Center reported that 76% of the Chinese population supports the policy.

The "one-child policy" has resulted in the phenomenon of "little emperors"; children who are not only the sole child of their parents, but the sole grandchild of both of their (sets of) grandparents.  As you might imagine, this can result in children who are a bit spoiled.

The women in question are fully aware that no such pill exists, and yet still have unprotected, contraception-free sex with men.

So I don't think you are really the target audience for such a product.

It does in the sense that when certain people wax poetic about the joys of small government, it is relevant to mention that there is a nation with extremely small government (Somalia) readily available for emigration.

Though I will say that in general, I'm not a fan of the "go move there, then!" argument; there is substantial value in trying to change your home country to suit your desires.

One other question, though:

Quote
I am of the opinion that child birth should be limited to a set number of children per female. We have a limited amount of resources and overpopulation will become an issue eventually.
Would this apply to everyone, or just the poor?

Actually, the same could be said about people that want government health care. There are many countries that offer that.

Everyone as far as I'm concerned !!!

Uhm...I did not say that. I just pointed out that women don't always have all of this alleged power.

And then you went on to say how you felt he specifically targeted these women based on some sort of psychology.

And is this story true?  Remember the dentist story?

And then said that the women might have gotten pregnant on purpose. Wink

I believe the dentist story was on multiple sites as well. That is the problem now, no journalists (or should I say very few) do any leg work. Once one story hits the wire they all jump on it without doing any verification. They are scared they may be too late if they actually try to take the time to verify something.

^ This is true.

Side story:  A girl came into work today telling me about a friend she had to go take care of last night.  Her boyfriend whipped her ass, physically, and then left.  She was upset that he left.  ...refused to report it.

Woman need to demand more.  They will get it.

This is a perfect example of what you alluded to earlier.  That friend of your co worker doesn't have the guts to stand up for herself and have this woman beating punk thrown in jail.

I don't think it's a matter of guts.  Physical abuse screws you up and makes you not think clearly.  Still, at some point, you have to believe in yourself and have enough confidence to put scumbags behind bars and out of your life.

I'm not even interested in the psychological manipulation angle; men are manipulated by women, as well... just in different ways.  I don't believe that "women have all the power" in a relationship... that depends greatly on the particular relationship.  I daresay that any woman dating Derek Jeter or George Clooney has an absurdly small amount of power.

I'm talking strictly about women choosing to bear the child of a man who already has dozens of children.  These women know that he will be completely unable to support this child, and yet make a long chain of choices (no birth control, no abstinence, no condom, no Plan B, no abortion, no adoption) that lead to them being stuck with yet another "fatherless" child.  In this particular area, they do have all the power... and they choose not to exercise it.
