The fact that we had an embarrasing offseason makes it even more necessary.

If we are indeed a terrible embarrassment, what exactly are we protecting by putting it on TV?  If we are awful and we're shown in a bad light, how does that hurt us anymore than what people are assuming, which is already the worst.

Hard Knocks is like a 1 hour commercial for an NFL team, once a week.  We need it more than anyone.

If it were a distraction, the show would be off the air.

If after 4 seasons, teams thought it was a problem, no one would allow HBO into their locker room.
Ok, y'all have convinced me that it's not a distraction, but I maintain that there's absolutely no way in HELL that Tony Sparano lets HBO into the locker room. None. Zip. Zero.

This regime has the anti-Tony attitude and I for one love that about them.

I think you can add Bill Belichick, Bill Parcells, Eric Mangini and many others to that list as well.  It isn't exactly like teams are fighting for a spot on the show.

...except that (one of) the perceived problem(s) with the Dolphins is that the owner is a flighty, attention-seeking, celebrity hound.  The way to combat this perception is to lay low and focus on the football field, not invite a film crew into your training camp and increase your media overexposure.

I doubt HBO cares what Sparano, Parcells, Mangini, or any other former head coach (two of them aren't even coaches at all) would do.

True.  They don't need to convince all 32 teams.  They just need to sucker one out of 32 into putting publicity for the team before team success.

And for those who are stoked about this, let's just say a lot of other teams turned this opportunity down before the Dolphins accepted.  They were not HBO's first choice.  And that pretty much sums up where the Dolphins stand in the NFL's pecking order.  After what's gone down the past few seasons, it's rightfully deserved.

Wrong.

^^^ I could have sworn there was at least one team that said "No" to HBO. Oh well. Not like it matters.

^^^ I am not sure if there were other teams formally asked by HBO and turned them down.  But there was certainly a plether of teams that publicly stated they wouldn't do it asked.

I'm just upset that I'll have to get HBO now.  I can't imagine this level of coverage on the Dolphins and not seeing it.

I am looking for ways to make my cable bill cheaper, not to add premium channels.  Damn you, HBO.

Totally.

I'm hoping I can get a cheap special for new subscribers and turning it off as soon as the show is over.
