Dansby upset at Chad being cut

We had several CJ threads, and I wasn't sure where best to fit this, so I started a new thread:

"While it is the first time Johnson has been in trouble with the law, the Dolphins were reportedly not willing to deal with any extra baggage he might bring along and felt no reason to hear the full story before giving him his release. Linebacker Karlos Dansby wishes they had.
 
“It’s going to be a bigger distraction because we let him go,” Dansby said during an appearance on 640 Sports in Ft. Lauderdale according to Pro Football Talk.  “He didn’t get that third strike. That’s just me personally. … We’ve been through worse. We’ve seen worse.
 
“That’s not Chad. If anybody knows Chad, that’s not Chad. The man don’t drink, the man don’t smoke. He may clown around but when it comes to football, he’s all about football. That’s his life. For him to be in this situation, that’s unfortunate. And it’s out of character.”

My first thought was that this wasn't much of a story, but it's hitting the newswire hard on a lot of outlets. He does have a point- the guys a goof off, but has never been arrested or had anything like this happen. Should Miami have given him a little more leeway? It's not like there's a lot of depth at WR, and he was clearly the #1 guy from everything I read. -EK

^^ I definitely get that. Even if it was second-hand through a biased, upset person, it was likely said, but people do sa things when they're angry. I guess my frustration is this:

The same reason I thought it was a poor decision to trade Marshall for a handful of magic beans, I wonder if this was too quick a reaction by the team? I'd like to have a more than one winning season every six years, and the team continually seems to backslide in terms of talent. -EK

Yep, I hear ya, but your post is making the assumption that Chad is the difference between 7-9 and 9-7?

He wasn't a lock to even make the team without beating his wife up.  I guess they report he was having a good camp.  OK, fine.

But Wallace is looking great, I think there are young guys that can fill the hole.  I don't think we need him.

Gotta agree with this.  This came from the horse's mouth.  Carlos if you don't like what the organization is doing, when your contract comes up for re-negotiating, move to another team.

The HC is making the decision, not the inmates.

We had 12 WR's in camp.  At most they will probably keep 5.  If you consider Legedu, Hartline, and Bess to be locks, that leaves 2 spaces for:
Pruitt, Wallace, Cunningham, Moore, Fuller

Chad may be a lost talent, but he's also a lost distraction.  With the team in its current state, distraction is the last thing they need.

Dansby can be upset all he wants, but it's not his decision and frankly he has more important things to be concerned about. One of the reasons that Miami is mired in uninspired football over the last decade or so is that too many of it's players have placed too much emphasis on things outside the lines. I understand they are only human and have opinions and such about things outside the lines, but they need to keep that stuff internal. It's fine for Dansby to air his opinions to his team mates, coaches etc but he shouldn't be taking it public. It just shows a lack of focus on what's really important.

Besides, this is perhaps the BEST thing that can happen to Chad Johnson. Clearly the man has bigger issues than losing his job. He could be going to jail. He apparently has some pretty serious problems in his relationship. Perhaps he needs a break from football to get his issues sorted out?

Dansby better watch his mouth. With Brandon gone. With Vonate in the final year of his deal and the Fins can let him walk. (Long as well but I won't include him here) The only BIG contract left Miami can cut to open up cap space or just unload because they don't want a bad contract on their books is his!! And while Dansby has played well since joining Miami he is overpaid some. While the defense (especially run defense) which he anchors with Soliai is very good it isn't like he isn't replaceable.

Philbin has already ran off Brandon, Chad, probably Vontae when the year is off from the way things are looking now. There is no doubt he will run off Dansby if he keeps talking like this.

New Era of Dolphins football and if these guys aren't on board they will be gone!

This reminds me of those that defend Paterno...rioting in the streets when you get rid of a guy that protected a child rapist. 

If your team cuts a guy for battering his wife, shut the F up about it and do your job.  Even if you feel that way, it makes you look like a huge asshole and it undermines your coach.

We aren't winning with idiots.  You might as well trying to put a team together of guys with some integrity and see how it goes.
