I thought about this when I hear about some one dying,Phyllis Diller dying, Neil Armstrong,Etc,etc.Talking to my Mom,asking if she had heard about their passing, then listen to her gush about them, and their greatness...Alot of these people are more of her generation,Most of the stuff they did was long before I was born.

Don't get me wrong I love a lot her heroes and legends, but it was a different time, and era...

So I'm wondering who are our Generations,Heroes,an Legends?

Steve Jobs,Maybe Bill Gates....(Sorry My brain isn't working well on a Monday Morning)

In terms of military, I would say Norman Schwarzkopf.

I think there are quite a few, some that we probably don't recognize as such right now. Time tends to increase the status of individuals.

Bill Gates
Steven Spielberg
Robert Redford
Harrison Ford
Kevin Costner
Robin Williams
Meryl Streep
Oprah Winfrey
Rosie O'Donnell
Madonna

That is a sad list.

Sully seems to be pretty beloved by everyone.

Like I said, in 20 years LOTS of people will be mourning their loss. I'm sure that there are TONS of names that I have left off the list too, I just tried to think up a few off the top of my head.

My bad. I was focused on 'heroes'. 'Legends' is more acceptable. Spielberg is my favorite director but I wouldn't attach the word hero to him.

I can't say I even know who that is.

Who the hell is Sully? Is this a code name or something?

I think Sully was that airline pilot who landed in the Hudson.

When multiple people don't know who it is, I doubt he's a national hero.

To me when you said Sully, I thought of the singer of Godsmack, then the dude pictured above, and then the pilot guy.  He's not even the most famous guy named Sully.

Captain Sullenberger.  The dude who landed the plane in the Hudson and was really humble and said all the right things --- he also refused to let it get politicized.  Basically, everyone loved him.

He was (and is) in the media a lot.

There will probably be some political heroes, too, but you have to be dead for a while before the stigma wears off (Reagan, for example).  Perhaps Clinton could have that level in 20 years.

Maybe I'm an asshole, but that dude is not even on my radar. Wasn't he doing his job?
