Seeing as we are thin with the receiving game...why not sign Cooley?  He'd probably supplant Fasano as our starter...Also, would be a nice 2 TE set for Tannehill.

Armando Salugero has been beating this drum for a week now on Cooley.

Because you just drafted 2 of them, Clay and Egnew and would probably have to cut Egnew to put Cooley on the team. I don't think that's a smart move. And I'm not sure that if Cooley can't make the roster elsewhere he would be our starter.

Cooley is 30 years old. Fasano is 2 years younger, and the team is clearly rebuilding. Despite the "fit" I'd be surprised if he is a Dolphin. It doesn't make sense for either side. -EK

GB did carry 5 TE's last year, so if our offense is like their's I could see a spot for him. Egnew isn't getting cut. Few 3rd round picks get cut year 1.

I go either way on this, for a team that lacks offensive weapons I say bring him in, use some 2 or 3 TE sets and maybe create mismatches. If they don't bring him in I am fine with that as well because he isn't the answer to any problems. Just a 1 year band aide, which one year band aides are OK, I am not against them. Just not sure if he is the right one. If they sign him its a blah move if they don't its no big deal honestly.

Adam Schefter on ESPN NFL Live said Fins, Jets, or Raiders for Cooley

Not interested.  However, I would take a long look at Dante Stallworth and Jabbar Gaffney.

Wasn't Cooley originally a FB who became a hybrid TE?

I think that Cooley would be a good fit here.  Our TEs are atrocious.

Plus would block the Jets from getting him...Keller probably out a few weeks with pulled hammy.  Anything to make life tougher for Ryan and his twin Sparano is good for business!  Lets face it, Cooley over Fasano in most peoples books.

They aren't atrocious, that is not fair. Fasano has 1 tough preseason game. Clay while maybe not totally well rounded is a threat in the passing game and can be a matchup nightmare on linebackers. It's not Gronkowski-Hernandez, but its not atrocious either. We will probably carry 4 or 5 tight ends so if Cooley is TE #4 or something that isn't a big deal.

Take it for what it's worth, but I've read a couple of places that NY is likely going to be a landing spot- either the Jets or Giants. Keller is hurt and Jake Ballard is no longer a G-man. -EK
