That's only half the question because this leaves the Dolphins with 52 on the active roster. I expect to see them add somebody to the active roster shortly.

Most likely a defensive player and someone in the secondary I would guess

While it may be true that they will add someone shortly, I don't think it was the motivating reason for the release.  It is more likely that they don't want to guarentee his salary and pretty much have to let him go now.

I don't believe they are pressured to sign someone right away.  It may be better to wait after week one on a veteran so that their salary isn't guarenteed.

With Hoyer on the market for free, Moore's value was likely nil.

Good move.  The players like Moore.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him re-signed after week #1 for $1.5M.

Nobody is going to resign him until he's healthy. There's a ton of other back ups available. -EK

I was really hopeful for DG.  Kind of bums me out.

Well he was already back practicing, not a major recent injury issue.  He made a quite classy tweet after being cut, unlike most players would do.  He knows the playbook, he was 1st on the depth chart before injury, why bring in some other unknown QB?

That's why they waived him without an injury settlement.  At the time he was released, he wasn't injured.

I didn't say he was injured. I said he wasn't healthy. He said himself when he was released he wasn't 100%.. No one is going to touch a QB who missed a year due to injuries and then has surgery and admits he's not 100% healthy when there ARE guys available who are healthy. -EK

Even if he was injured, he hurt himself playing with his kids.  Would an injury settlement even be necessary?
