I know that on the field talent is the most important thing, and we ain't got it. But, I am a Dolphins fan till the day I die for some strange reason that bewilders me. But wait a minute. We have Philbin and Sherman. They have Ryan and Sparano. We had Sparano, and Ryan sucks ass any how. We may not have the better players but we do have a better coaching staff. You know they're going to run it and be conservative with the EX wife running the show and probably fist pump on every 1st down and FG. I say AFC east standings for this year is NE, BUF, MIA, NY. We beat NY, that's my prediction................... ...................

Only one thing that you overlooked. They have TIMMY! And we all witnesses to what The Chosen One can do.

Yep.  Throw a deep pass down the field and watch it flutter off course

The Jets aren't in the middle of a full blown rebuild, we are.

I would love it if you were right!

We have Philbin and Sherman. They have Ryan and Sparano.

And what do we know about Philbin's ability to be a head coach?  Ans: Absolutely jack shit.  We know he was a decent OC in Greenbay.  But every single HC was a decent OC or DC before becoming a HC.  Some make the transition, many don't.  There is absolutely no reason to think at this point Philbin is more inclined to follow the foot steps of Shula instead of Cam Cameron, who also was a decent OC.

As for Sherman, he was fired from his last two jobs.  That is never a good sign.

Ryan was more than a decent DC, he is one of the most brilliant defensive minds in the game.  Like with many he has not done a great job in transitioning from DC to HC.  If I owned a team and could steal whoever I wanted, I would have Belichick as my HC and Ryan as my DC.

As for Sparano.  Not a good HC.  But he was a good OC.  He is an OC again.

I really can't see how you can claim Dolphin's have an edge on coaching.

For the record, I believe it was a mistake replacing Ryan. His failures were indicative of the lack of talent on the field. I think he did as well as he could with what he had. He didn't have much. To finish middle of the pack in total D with a bunch of guys who would be back ups on most teams and a handful of above average players is getting a lot out of a little. -EK

When? Certainly not when he was with the Cowboys because they had tons of offensive weapons and were never that great of an offensive team. He got the job in Miami because he was friends with Parcells and that's it.

^^^ I said good, not great.  Of the four the only one who as ever been great at anything was Ryan.

I think you could argue that Sparano's best coaching job was 2008 when the Dolphins made the playoffs with the talent they had. All the years in Dallas I thought the Cowboys under performed for the talent they had assembled. But that's just my opinion.

I thought Sparano was offensive line coach in Dallas. I didn't think he ever had an OC job...

But he did call plays at one time for the Cowboys. I know I have heard that multiple times.
