Who gives a fuck about college stats now? They are in the NFL

It's assinine to compare Manning with what everyone KNEW he could do coming out of college, to Tannehill and his unproven track record. That clear enough for ya? -EK

Which is stupid because they are NOT the same caliber player. Future hall of fame QB who is one of the top five QBs of all time juxtaposed against a rookie who can't throw over the line of scrimmage. Really?

You guys keep drinking the Tannehill Kool Aid. It amazes me that now he's being compared to Manning and people are backing up this comparison, not shooting it down. Have fun with that. 2 years from now when Miami is in the same boat they've been in for the past 20 years, what will you guys say then? -EK

Holy crap!!! I listened to the game on the radio and didn't expect to see all the "sky is falling" stuff on here. Let's see ... according to Bob Griese, Jimmy Cefelo, Joe Rose and Kim Bokamper the three INTs came from a bad route from a reciever, and two tipped balls. All of them blamed the tipped balls on the offensive line not engaging the defenders. They blamed a fumble on a very hard head shot that knocked him out of the game.

Other than a 5 minute meltdown we did some good things today.  So we don't make the Super Bowl this year? Who freaking thought we would?

Next week we take care of the Raiders and go to 1-1.

We'll see how Tannehill moves forward from this and against a projected middle of the pack defense.

Well I watched the game and saw the same thing I saw all preseason from Tannehill. He's not ready to be a starter. Maybe he will be someday if he gets a chance to learn, but this "throw him out there and let him take his lumps" mentality is a mistake. If the team was going to suck all year any way, I don't see the logic and not letting him sit a year. Next week if Miami gets thumped by Oakland behind more bad plays from Tannehill- and no the line was not responsible for the tips; he did this numerous times in the preseason, as well- what will the excuses be then?? -EK

The radio people are right. Dan Fouts said the same exact thing. 3 INT's, and 2 weren't Tanny's fault.  We got a couple fans here who HATE Tannehill and are happy to see him fail.

The Sun Sentinal- and most non-Miami fans- disagree:

"1. Let’s get right to the prime question of the opening loss: Why are so many Ryan Tannehill passes being tipped and intercepted. These help changed Sunday from a 3-3 game after the first quarter into a 24-3 Houston lead at half. First, Houston led the league last year in knocking down passes. So they’re – and primarily defensive end J.J. Watt – good at it. But this was a preseason issue for the Dolphins and it’s one to clear up. Of Tannehill’s three interceptions in the first half, two were on deflections..."

If you only listen to Miami media, you're only going to get homer point of view. -EK

No not Fouts. I wasn't specifically speaking to him. I have no idea what he or anyone else "saw" but Tannehill was not blameless on those tips. This has been a concern throughout the preseason and now it's a concern in the game. To say they were "not his fault" is the ultimate homer statement. -EK

NFL.com as well. I watched the highlights.... but that could have been Fouts now that I think of it.

Either way if the lineman are knocking balls down then they aren't engaged ... I don't care who says it. I'll take Jimmy's word on the route running as both being a reliever and Dolphin insider he would know more than most.

Miami was a 13 pt dog for a reason, Houston is really really good. Their defense was #2 ranked last year. As the Sun Sentinel said, Houston led the league in knocking down balls at the LOS and JJ Watts is a master of doing that. The sky isn't falling. Only 1 guy is happy that Tannehill failed.

Most level headed fans didn't expect greatness from Day 1, not with the supporting cast he has. This is why its a rebuilding year. This is called taking your lumps now. Working out issues now. Why some people are "surprised" by this I have no idea. Was Tanny great today, no. But he wasn't awful either.

So, to recap:

If you were a longtime college starter, then you get years and years to prove yourself (e.g. Sam Bradford, whose first stat line was 32/55 for 253, 1 TD, 3 INT).

However, if you started less than 20 games in college (e.g. Tannehill) then you get exactly one half of one game to prove whether or not you are ready for the NFL.

No TD's versus 3 INTs and a fumble; 216 yards passing and it took nearly 40 attempts to get there; QB rating of 39.0. That's not awful? While you believe I want Tannehill to fail, I do not. I believe he is not a good QB. After one week, I'm pointing out the obvious- he's not a good QB.

He didn't do anything in college to warrant a first round pick. Comparing him now to Manning or Bradford or players who actually played significant time at QB in college is just silly. Why do you suppose he only got 19 starts? Clearly he wasn't as good as some people believed or he would have been a clear cut starter from the get go. Hope you folks are stocking up on crow, because I'm telling you he isn't the answer and sooner or later one of two things happens- you all see it and can admit you're wrong and I was right, OR he turns oh to be the team savior and wins a ton of games, at which point I'll gladly admit I was wrong. Either way I'm happy! -EK
