Couldn't help but notice all the wideout retreads on the Chargers.....Royal, Meacham and company....all we got was Armstrong?

Big miss by Ireland IMO!

Royal, and Meecham were both signed in mid March before the draft.

Parrish Signed April 3rd,released in August, and Spurlock were signed in April 5th...

Armstrong was a final cut in August...Apples and oranges....

Now Signing Naanee April 17th...that was a mistake IMO...

which is when Marshall was traded..Marshall was a headache, but way to go Ireland for not having a legitimate back up plan in mind

"wow, Peyton manning played great on Sunday. Way to go Ireland. You suck"

It's a two way street. Guys have to want to come here. And until there is consistency in leadership, no one will.

There is no quick fix at WR this year. They could go sign Branch, Gaffney, Plax, or Lee Evans tomorrow and not much will change. The situation is what it is for this year.

Next year with between $40-60 mill in salary cap space and free agents like Bowe, Jennings, Wallace...Miami should be able to make a move to land at least 1. Long ways away but nobody Miami brings in now will fix anything.

With Jennings hurt the chances of trading for James Jones just went away as well probably

Branch, Gaffney, and Plax are all better than anything we have right now.  It would help the rookie QB a lot to give him somebody to throw to.  No one's going to have to max out the bank for one of these guys, and I'd bet they'd all be willing to sign a one year deal.

I agree with  all of. But I would be surprised if it happens. This is a rebuilding year and they would be better off just playing Fuller and Matthews and calling them up from the practice squad in a few weeks or midway through the season. They do want Gaffney but he isn't healthy yet. They want nothing to do with Plax. And Branch only wants to play for NE. I know its early to be giving up on the playoffs and all, but it makes no sense to do a "win now" move (signing Branch and Plax is just that) when the team isn't in "win now" mode.  If this team by some minor miracle is like 3-2 after 5 games or something then I could see them doing  something like that. But if its a rough start to the season it makes little sense to bring a vet WR on board.

I just don't think it helps a young QB develop by not having anyone he can throw to.  I totally agree they've given up on this year, but at some point, they need to give RT someone he can work with or it could be a truly wasted year with hardly any development.  IMO not having any receivers in St. Louis has really hindered Sam Bradford (that and the constant running for his life.)

Great example and I agree. But Ireland should have planned this out in the spring. Doing it "in-season" is almost worthless. IF they signed a guy tonight  by the time they get him up to speed with the playbook and in rhythm with Tanny at this point it will be October. And if its a 1-4 or 2-5 type start the season is all but lost.

We all knew this was a rebuilding year and playing Tanny means he would take his lumps. He didn't have an AJ Green like Dalton did or a Steve Smith like Cam did. Or even a Reggie Wayne like Luck has. This was more of a season like Aikman had when he came into the league where he had little help. Let the kid take his lumps, let him make his mistakes and work through them.  It isn't like if they play Matt Moore its Playoffs here we come and NFL offensive records will start falling left and right.

I do think Gaffney could be signed if he gets healthy but that would be the only move I could see.

I heard the samething stated Tuesday night on Wqam and that sounds great... they mentioned the draft picks also. They said with the cap space Miami will have and the draft picks they've amassed the Dolphins will be in place to make a move like the Heat did with the big 3.   My question is this... what have we seen from Jeff Ireland's past that would even suggest he's going to do something like that?

I just don't see it myself... I look at players like TY Hilton that we passed up on and others and I don't see him making any great moves at all... I hope I'm wrong!

2012 was one of the deepest wide receiver draft classes in years, and Fireland did very little with it to address the receiver position.
