So EVERY QB who has a late drive in a game that isn't against Revis makes it a non-impressive drive?  You have to be kidding me.  This has to be a joke.

Also Tannehill converted 3 third downs (2 third and long's) late in the game to get Miami in field goal range. But that doesn't count either cause no Revis! lol

So nothing Tannehill does the rest of the year will matter because he won't be facing Revis so, he can't be impressive. Roll Eyes

We're not talking about EVERY QB in EVERY game. We're talking about Tannehill against the Jets. Don't reduce your argument by reductio ad absurdum because you were wrong. The Jets defense is nothing special this year. Calling them "very good" is ludicrous and shows- how's that phrase of yours go? Wait, got it- football IQ. They may have been very good last year, but his year they are pretty mediocre. Evaluating any success Tannehill had against them as some sort of accomplishment is indicative of the entire issue with Tannehill- some fans are so happy to have someone under center drafted in round one, or someone not named Henne or Moore, they will happily pretend shit doesn't stink, even in the face of absolute facts: WORST QB in football. WORST. And he couldn't finish late drives against an average defense without their top player. -EK

Speaking of first rounders who can't miss- your boy Tannehill? Dead last in the league in passer rating for starters. -EK

Remind me to give your boss a call on your third day of a new job.  If you aren't making the grade after that third day, you're out.

Easy being judge, jury and executioner from your recliner.

Me?  I'd like to see how the kid is going to do over a little more than THREE games.  I'm so unreasonable like that.

Not the same thing- if I was the "boss," as per your comparison, I wouldn't have hired the guy to start with. I said from the get go he isn't an NFL ready QB, and certainly not worth the 8th pick. But if you really want to use your comparison, be honest- he's been a Dolphin longer than three days. He was drafted in April. So, if after 5 months of me working at a job, which I was hired at with very high expectations, and the entire company changed it's philosophies to suit my background and talents, I would certainly hope that ANYONE's boss would make some changes if there's not improvement. -EK

Funny how you are one of the few not seeing any improvement considering you are one of the few who thought he was mistake to begin with. Funny how that is  ... don't you think?

He's got the worst QB rating in the entire league. There's NO WAY to interpret that as improvement. "Funny" how no one else seems to see this. Against an average Jets team his QB rating was a 50, and his total QBR was just under 32. How is that improvement? -EK

Bill Belichik said it the best I've ever heard. Ugg I think I threw up a little. He said he never evaluates people based on stats and that stats are for losers. Too many variables between one invidual and another.

OK, so throw out all the stats, records, whatever. Where is there improvement? I could have intercepted his pass to Landry. He rolled out in his own freakin end zone and never looked anywhere BUT his receiver. And just so you don't think I'm the only one who sees no improvement, from the Miami Herald:

"The Jets didn’t blitz Ryan Tannehill as often as feared but they didn’t have to. The rookie had some accuracy issues. He had a big mistake in locking onto Anthony Fasano — allowing Jets safety LaRon Landry to read his eyes and intercept a pass he returned for a touchdown. Tannehill did have the 41-yard completion to Brian Hartline but the two failed to hook up most of the afternoon. GRADE: D. "

And from CBS Sports: "With the way that Weeden is improving, it appears that Tannehill is struggling the most of any of the rookie quarterbacks. Grade: C-"

Let's be honest. Tanny was not ready to start in the NFL. Garrard getting hurt and Moore laying a turd in PS pushed the issue. He is doing the best he can and will get better. He has one of the worst WR corps in the league. Thank goodness for Bush and the running game.

My biggest concern is his recent tendency to lock in on a receiver. I never saw it much in pre-season, but it was very evident  against the jets, including the pick 6. THAT IS A PROBLEM!

My biggest concern- my concern from the get go, is that Miami drafts him, despite numerous sources saying he sucks, and play him for a couple of years, miss out on better quarterbacks they could draft in the future, realize that he actually DOES suck in year 3 and then start the whole QB search over again. Freaking Ryan Mallett would have been a better pick, but no, the boneheads in the front office traded UP to pass on him and get Dan Thomas. I didn't need three years to realize he sucked. I watched him play in college and he sucked then. He got balls tipped, he completed a low % of balls (and let's be honest, that's a metirc that goes down, not up when QB's turn pro), and was over rated by quite a few (but not all, as some would have you believe) people going into the draft. Not sure why the board is all pissy now that it turns out he started out as crap and is actually NOT improving. Well, at least there's this- I have agreed not to label him a bust for 8 more weeks. By then, he could have led Miami to a 1-6 record, and have 20 INTs. -EK

If I understand you correctly, passer rating is now a valuable tool in evaluating a quarterback's effectiveness?

Because last year when Tebow was stinking up the joint, passer rating was a meaningless number for nerds.

Which is why I followed up that post with

If you're going to go out of your way to single me out in a thread without actually offering anything to the topic at hand, at least quote me in my entirety. -EK

I quoted your entire post and you're complaining that... I didn't also quote another later post, too?

Should I quote every single post in a thread before I reply?

Barry Jackson had this Tannehill stat in the Herald today...

Tannehill’s 94.8 rating in the fourth quarter this season is 11th-best in the league.

Wait what? All I heard from every person here last year when I mentioned Tebow's astounding 4th quarter rating was that one quarter doesn't count- you play the whole game. Now we're throwing that at the window for RT? His overall QB rating is still next to last in the league. Consistency, please? -EK
