And I mentioned Soliai before and a number of guys jumped my case, saying Ireland did good there, but that's simply not true. He made $14 Million in 2010 and did nothing. So when he tried to go elsewhere nobody would pay him, so the Fins were able to re-sign him. Article in Miami Herald today saying Soliai is supposed to be worth $7.8 Million toward Cap next year when Miami's trying to re-sign Reggie Bush, Jake Long, Sean Smith and Brian Hartline.

Paul Soliai is one of the premier NT/DT in all of football. What in god's name are you talking about? Miami's rush defense through 4 games is #1 this year and was #3 last year. Don't ya think the guy in the middle of it all might have something to do with that?! And he did nothing in 2010? The Fins were 6th in total defense. 7th in rush defense. Soliai was the anchor of that d-line, especially in a 3-4 scheme where the entire thing hinges on the NT and his play.

Soliai at only $7.8 mill next year is a friggin steal! It's one of the best bargains in the entire league. Most premier NT/DT make upward of $10-$12 mill a year. We got a guy who plays at that level at a hometown discount because he likes Miami. He held off getting on the plane to go to Denver (who wanted him badly) because he was hoping Miami would come back with a better offer at the last minute. They did, he didn't chase the money and stayed where he wanted to be.

P.S...The Fins still have upward of $60 mill to spend next year on re-signing those 4 guys (Long,Bush,Smith,Hartline) and any other FA they may want,  I don't don't think Paul Soliai's deal will ruin anything  Roll Eyes

I am with ya on this one. I was shocked to see Paul settle for what he did. Hope Long follows suit. One of the best moves Jeff has ever made. Losing Soliai would really screw up the D line.

This is where Ireland sucks. Along with the later rounds of the draft. He's got no eye for talent. The first 2 rounds, let's face it, you can listen to Mel Kiper and pretty much figure out who to draft. But in the later rounds you are looking for diamonds in the rough and Ireland's like Stevie Wonder at the Free Throw Line.

Just to get this out of the way now so you can enjoy the next few months and you're holiday season and not have to think about this issue. If Tannehill continues to play well and the Fins end up winning somewhere between 6-8 games; Ireland is going no place. He will stay for a little while longer. As he should!
