They got a lot of money to spend next year and they want to lock Brian up right now. Makes sense with the way he is performing. He clearly "clicks" with Tannehill (and Tannehill isn't going anywhere anytime soon.) Get Hartline locked up now before he becomes too expensive.

But Hartline might jump on it cause if he gets injured again, or if his stats decline as the season goes on, or if Tannehll doesn't keep progressing at this rate which hinders his stats going forward, then where is his value? Right now his value is at an all-time high, would be wise for him to sign something now.

You could argue that, but before the season, Hartline hadn't really shown he was worth holding on to and it wasn't known how he would mesh with Tannehill considering he was injured (and had an appendectomy).

Buy high, sell low. lol

I like what the Stealers and I think Green Bay do. Their standard policy is no contract discussions during the season. Seems fair.

The trouble is, if the Dolphins let Hartline walk, the Pats will snatch him up and he will become another Wes Welker

Or if Sparano survives this season he could bring him up to the Jets.

Look, Hartline isnt going to be able to demand big bucks on the open market. He is a nice player but not a superstar who will get superstar money by any means.  I have no doubt he will be back in Miami. I have no doubt he, Long, Smith, and Bush are going anywhere and they will ALL be back as Dolphins. Miami has a ton of cap room this is not an issue. The ONLY guy who won't be back is Randy Starks. Only because its a numbers game. They can slide Oddrick back to DT (his natural position) next to Soliai start Vernon or Shelby. And then draft another DE at some point for depth.

Starks is going to demand big money but we have too much money tied up in our d-line as is and he (like Langford last year) will be forced to go elsewhere as that money MUST be spent on WR and CB

Want to talk odd timing??? Just heard the Cowboys are trying to get Romo to sign a contract extension. What did he do last week? 5 picks?

Would sure hate to lose Starks. I thought it came down to Starks or Langford and they decided to try and keep Starks. No?

^^Barry Jackson this morning said the Fins have already expressed interest in resigning Starks.  So hopefully they can keep him as he has been very good. I just think (just my opinion)) that if money gets tight and they want to add a guy or 2 from the outside the first guy they would be willing to let walk would be Starks because they are so deep at d-line
