10. Another young quarterback's adjusting to the league quickly. Remember when the draftniks said it'd be a smart idea for whoever picked the inexperienced Ryan Tannehill to stash him on the bench for a full season so he could learn the position better? What you see in Tannehill now, after a two-week stretch in which Miami lost in overtime at Arizona and won at Cincinnati, is a confident player who doesn't get flustered when the pocket breaks down -- as it did under pressure from Michael Johnson and Geno Atkins Sunday in Cincinnati.
The rookie out of Texas A&M has been a 64 percent passer in the two games, and you can see he doesn't get jittery when he feels pressure. "It's not that complicated,'' he said from Cincinnati after the 17-13 Miami win. "I'm just getting more comfortable as the weeks go on. What I was happy about today was I was able to make some good checks at the line [audibles], and I like the fact we made good decisions.''

The best decision by Miami may have been trusting Tannehill with a big job.

I believe we got the second best QB in the draft! Looking from a longivity and intangible factor. RGIII is awesome but starting to show a little Vicklike fragility.  Tanny has just the perfect ingredient in predicting a Franchise Leader. Offcourse no one touches Luck who is anything but Lucky!

Tannehill is really holding it down.  He couldn't have found a better environment to be in, where he already knows the offense and just needs to adjust to the speed of the NFL game.

Not to derail the thread, but this was also an interesting piece:

3. The best division in football? Don't laugh. Every team in the NFC West is above .500, and the composite record of the division is 14-6. No other division is close. I thought the NFC South could be a powerhouse. Nope; 8-11. Now that the Rams have a defense, all four teams out west can hold teams down. Good defense travels. I can see the West keeping it up the entire year.

Two years ago, this would definitely have been a laughing matter.  Not today.  He is dead accurate on this one.

I never listen to Golic/Greenberg. But I had my car in the shop so I had a rental which had no SIRIUS so I was forced too listen earlier this week. They did a list of the last 2 drafts and rank the QB's as of today.

Luck was 1st, RGIII wasn't 2nd. Greenburg (a die hard Jets fan) had Tannehill 3rd over Newton. Golic I think had Ponder higher. They argued over it for a while. Somewhat entertaining. Greenburg was as high on Tannehill as anyone at ESPN I have heard. He was drinking his bath water big-time!

Wait, what? He got drilled on the sideline and received a mild concussion. That's not "fragility." It can- and has happened- to a lot of guys. How does that make a player fragile? -EK

If you are sitting with an injury before finishing 5 full games, I think "fragile" is an appropriate word... particularly when you consider that he was injured not on some freak play (e.g. Testaverde blowing out his Achilles without being touched), but rather doing what he was drafted to do (making a play with his feet).

If you draft an Elway/Young/McNabb/Vick/Newton-style player to be a multidimensional passing/running threat, but he can't go 5 games without being carted off, then he's a lot less valuable to you.

Totally agree. That wasn't a fluke play. RGII runs alot as a QB, he got nailed. It happened once it will happen again because that is "his style of game." If you don't let him run and try to protect his health then he isn't the player you "thought" he was when you took him.  Catch-22. The word "fragile" isn't unfair here.

Spider- LMAO really? REALLY? You- who have been beating the drum as hard as anyone about not judging a player so early in their career- is going to now say this? It was a mild concussion. He missed a quarter and a half of play, and is expected play Sunday after practicing all week. How does one fluke injury make someone fragile? It's not like he's had multiple injuries throughout the season, or is one of the top 5 or 6 most injured players this year. His style of play lends itself to getting hurt; the fact that he lasted THIS long without getting injured means he's exactly the OPPOSITE of fragile. -EK

Oops, my bad... I meant, "RG3 is a bust and should never have been picked, and this injury proves it!"  Now you and I are talking apples to apples, right?

Um, but seriously... are you honestly claiming that ANY PLAYER at ANY POSITION who lasts almost 5 games before being carted off proves... that he's rugged and reliable?  Did the Redskins draft RG3 in the hopes of getting 13 full games a year out of him?  The most charitable evaluations you can make of RG3 are that:

a) It's too soon to judge either way
or
b) He just needs to learn to F'ING SLIDE (which is coachable) and he'll be fine

Here we go again- Spider will dictate the only two possible options, because no one else could possibly have their own valid opinion. You forgot "c": he doesn't need to learn to slide; he made it through the first four 1/2 games just fine, is fine now, will play Sunday, and in no universe does a single, isolated injury make someone "fragile." -EK
