I'm watching the Jets run a kick off back for a TD, and listening to the announcers heap praise on special teams coach Mike Westhoff. I'm  reminded that for 15 years, Westhoff was with Miami and we enjoyed a top ranked special teams unit year after year......until Wannstedt replaced him with a crony from his coaching days with the Bears.  Our special teams quickly fell apart.

As much as I hate the Jets, I've always like Westhoff.  It's not his fault he ended up there.   Westhoff will be retiring at the end of the year, and while I hope they lose most of their games, I don't mind seeing the special teams do well.

Agreed, I hated seeing Westhoff go, one of the best ST coaches out there.

The 'stache hated success, which is why he's avoided it anywhere he's gone.

That reminds me, Wanny is now the Asst Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator for the Bills, and we all know how bad the new vaunted Bills defense has performed of late.   Combined with Sparano's great Jets offense, I'm starting to see a winning formula for the Fins.  Now what ex coach can we get onto the Patsies coaching roster???

Nick Saban will not be the coach of the Patriots when he leaves Alabama (tongue smashed into side of cheek which is difficult to do with a wad of tobacco in mouth, dripping with skoal juice and irony)

You would probably a more sympathetic reply from me if this was not a year where the Jets used Tebow on a fake pount which kept a scoring drive alive. Screw everything about the Jets.

In the entire history of the Fins, there is only a handful I hated seeing leave. Off the top of me head they are...

1. DonShula

2, Bob Arnsburger

3. Mike Wieskoff

4. Joe Roby

I thought it was Jimmy that jettisoned Westhoff, not Wanny....?

Wannstedt's problem is the same problem many coaches have. The game has changed drastically since the 90's and he hasn't kept up with the times.  When Wanny had his success (even the his early years in Miami) the NFL game was totally different than it is now. It's not the same game now. He is coaching a 1990's style of game in the year 2012.

It's why he failed at Pitt on the college level and why he is failing in Buffalo
