Thanks.

Interesting.  I've never even heard of this.  I was researching a little bit and I can't seem to find a straight source of what the bill really is for.  Everything I'm finding (including the link you sent) seem to be scare tactics of "what the bill could mean".  Perhaps it's a bigger deal, but it appears to be an attempt to cut down on child abuse, but that may spill over into harsh parenting, given how its interpreted.  I can't seem to find a straight story on what it is, though.

Don't know if it is illegal, but I thought they stopped spanking YEARS AGO. The schools our son attended in FL. never spanked kids.

They did stop spanking years ago in public schools.  But this law refers to parents spanking their children.

Thanks.

No problem, Dave.  Bottom line is this:  These "politically correct" laws have taken away a parent's ability to discipline their children.  As a result, you have a generation of kids that is being raised with no respect for authority.

Actually, I was referring to the school lunch thing. I was reading so quickly that I missed the soda ban part. And thanks, I didn't know that the soda ban was by a Republican. I still think that it's ridiculous. But having said that, I think we all know that the libs are the ones that want more government and regulations intruding into our lives. Alas, too bad we can't test drive Ron Paul for a couple years instead of these two idiot clowns we have on the ballot....

Funny thing you mentioned that the liberals are trying to intrude in our lives and playing a modern day Robin Hood.  A colleague of mine who teaches college statistics e-mailed me these numbers.  Here are the ten poorest cities in America with the percentage of residents they have living at or below the poverty level, and the last year they've had a Republican mayor:

1. Detroit , MI- 32.5% 1961

2. Buffalo , NY- 29.9% 1954

3. Cincinnati , OH- 27.8% 1984

4. Cleveland , OH- 27.0% 1989

5. Miami , FL- 26.9% (tied) never

5. St. Louis , MO- 26.9% (tied) 1949

7. El Paso , TX- 26.4% never

8. Milwaukee , WI- 26.2% 1908

9. Philadelphia , PA- 25.1% 1952

10. Newark , NJ- 24.2% 1907

Bottom line is this:  These people are voting for the candidate who promises to help the poor and give more to the poor, and they are STILL POOR.

Yea we all know it, except for the example already stated, the example of regulating abortion, the example of Romney Care, etc.

It is being pushed by Mayor Bloomberg, who is currently an Independent but has been a democrat as well as a republican. I think it passed.
