Yeah, yeah, I know that 4 games is not sufficient data to make any "How good is this team" determination.  But just out of curiosity, what does everyone think about the Fins performance (not win-loss record, but just overall performance) so far this year in relation to what your expectations were before the season started.

I had very low expectations this year and have been pleasantly surprised so far.  Overall, the offense has done better than I thought they would.  Tanny is of course making some rookie mistakes, but I like the fact that he has at least looked composed for the most part and I don't think he is in over his head in the NFL like some QBs we've had lately (Beck, Henne, etc.).  Defense has been solid which I kind of expected, but it is still good to see.  Special Teams has been "meh".  I still miss Westhoff.  So what do the rest of you think so far of their performance in relation to what your pre-season expectations were?

I'm a moron.  I meant after 5 games,  not 4.   Grin

When has that ever kept us from expressing our opinion.  Heck I was grading the 2011 draft before it even finished. (By the way I'd just like to point out that I was pretty much spot on with that anaylsis LOL).

You nailed it. I'm happy with the team where we stand. We have to continue to make progress and we have to continue to add players to the roster, but if we're able to do that, I think by next year we should be a playoff contender.

The Defense is right there on the doorstep of being top shelf. They are a couple CB's away in reality. Jones has solidified himself as a legit NFL starting safety. The front 7 has been amazing.

On offense, the o-line is there. The QB is improving every week. Hartline an Bess are playing very well. Fasano is oK. Bush has played well. Miller has shown flashes. Offense needs some more players but the foundation is set going forward!

Through the first 5 games, throw away the record. This is a rebuilding year anyway (but if Carpenter makes 2 kicks this would be 2008 all over again). So, let's judge it off the eyeball test and how the players are improving and its an A+ all the way though 5 games.

Coaching improved. Quarterback play improved. O-line improved. Safety play improved. Front 7 improved.  Lots of growth on this team through 5 games
