Maybe you should lay off whatever it is your smoking before you post.  Green Bay is a working class city.  According to demographic stats, the median income in Green Bay is $38,820.  You're not going to be able to spend $15,000 on a pair of Super Bowl tickets on that kind of income unless you do some careful saving/financing.

I would venture to guess that most of those high priced tickets are bought by large corporations or the very wealthy. I seriously doubt the locals make up a significant % of SB ticket sales.

Seriously, when we played sandlot as kids, it didn't get any better than playing in the rain, mud or snow. Much better than the heat.

The fans would still fill the seats. Really, if you live in G.B., it is kind of unfair not to be considered as a SB host just because of the weather.  

I grew up in central Illinois, so yeah I can relate, but I can remember days from my youth shoveling snow that I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy, so I can understand the NFL thinking twice about it as well. LOL

I have SO many good stories I'd like to share right now, but I'd need another hour or 2 to do them justice, so you'll just have to use your imagination. It's part of the reason I now live in Texas.

Neither New Orleans, nor Jacksonville are affluent cities.  Jacksonville had a major problem with hotel accomodations for the game as well.  They had to dock some cruise ships in the St. Johns River to overcome that problem. 

The whole point is, someone posted in this thread that Green Bay fans would fill the seats if the Super Bowl was held in Green Bay.  With the price of Super Bowl tickets being what they are, I beg to differ.  I've heard of people taking out second mortgages on their houses to buy Super Bowl tickets.  You will never see me doing that.

The high ticket prices are everywhere, not just the NFL. I am from Central FL. (not originally) and my son went to UF and is a big Gator fan (naturally). Just for giggles I thought I would buy him a ticket to the game. The cheapest ticket I could get was in the nose bleeds and was 300 bucks against a so-so team.

I was flabbergasted. Did not buy the ticket. lol

Tommy, don't be ridiculous.  I'm sorry, but when I see a statement like "Green Bay fans would never be able to afford Super Bowl tickets", it's so naive, I have to call you out.  It's lazy posting.  Maybe you should use wikipedia before you post instead of after.  You compound it by focusing on the median income of Green Bay and quote a price of 15k for a pair of tickets.   Here are some things you should consider

- approx 85% of the attendees for a Super Bowl are from out of state (this would change if the local team was in the game)
- tickets are available to season ticket holders (locals) for face value, something like 800 - 1200 dollars.  You could get a brokered ticket to last years SB for around 3K
- just because a the median income in Wisconsin is around 55K, there are plenty of corporations and individuals with incomes that far exceed that

I'm going to say this yet again.  My name is not Tommy, it's Lee.  That being said, I'm still sticking to my belief that Green Bay fans would not be buying tickets en masse if the Super Bowl was held at Lambeau Field.  The median income for the CITY OF GREEN BAY is accurately stated.  And where did I get the $15K from?  Simple.  I recall reading about a couple who were Bears fans coming to Miami for the Bears-Colts Super Bowl, and complaining about not being able to tailgate and that they spent $12,500 for a pair of tickets.  Granted, those tickets were in the lower level and at about the 35 yard line.

Which is exactly my point.  Green Bay fans won't be at the Super Bowl just because the game is in Green Bay.  And you're probably right that the tickets were not $12,500 face value.  Face value means nothing for the Super Bowl.  Market value does.

Not a big deal.

Lets face it, the skyrocketing cost for SB tickets have made it difficult if not impossible for the average fan to see it live. I am middle class and love football, but would not be willing to make the sacrifice needed to buy the tickets and travel arrangements.

The SB has become a venue for the wealthy. Check it out and keep in mind this is just for 1 ticket and includes nothing else.
