Please don't turn this into a republican democrat bashing because both sides do it. I'm asking about things like what Gloria Aldred and Donald Trump are trying to do and have done before.  Do you agree with it or does it make you sick to you stomach?

The older I get the less tolerant I have for either. At the end of the day I don't care if Obama was born here and I don't care that the Obama's got divorced or whatever skeleton's Aldred has.  Maybe it's being a Chrisitan and realizing everyone has a past but I know both guys have both a positive and a negative history and I don't think it always defines a person.

It's really the reason why I don't pay attention to any politics. Grown people can't have a discussion and a real debate to figure things out. Children are held to a more responsible manner than these people.

I cannot wait for this election to be over.  It has brought out the worst in everyone involved...including much of the electorate.

If there was any evidence that suggested actual malfeasance by either presidential candidate, attention whores like Trump and Alred wouldn't be the ones bringing it to the public's attention.  They are, essentially, professional trolls.

I don't like big money controlling politics, more than anything else.  I don't like that some billionaire's voice is more important than mine because he/she can donate a ton of cash to a campaign or a SuperPAC and have influence.  So long as this is the case, both political parties are prisoners and the electorate will continue to get manipulated.

Well, it really doesn't matter if  Obama got a divorce or not. But it really does matter if he was actually born here. I'm not saying that he wasn't born here and don't even want to start that shit again, but where he was born does matter a lot.

Could not agree with that more. Only the  rich can even think about running for a major office and for some reason I don't think that is the best system. lol

I also think politics can ruin a honest man. For the most part, if you are not a crook going in, you will be coming out.

In short, our political system just stinks!

Politics in itself is a dirty business.  Every politician starts off wanting to make a difference in this country.  Then they find out there are big, powerful interest groups they have to deal with, and their career goals depend on them staying in office.  In order to stay in office, they have to pass measures that the people they represent want.  So what do they do?  They "vote trade".

For example, let's pretend we are both U.S. Senators.  I'm trying to get a bill passed that would lighten fishing restrictions, because it would be beneficial to someone like me who goes out fishing a lot.  You approach me and say, "Hey, I'm trying to get a bill passed that would place heavy restrictions on abortions in the State of Florida and make them harder and more expensive to get.  I'll vote for your bill if you vote for mine."  I have to get my bill passed to stay in office, so I agree to your proposal.

Those votes are a matter of public record.  So years later, I decide to run for President.  My opponent will see that on my track record and sling mud.  "Landshark voted in favor of abortion restrictions.  He is not a proponent of women's rights"

My opponent will see that on my track record and sling mud.

When your opponent points out how you voted on an issue that is NOT slinging mud or dirty politics, that is stating a fact about your performance in office.  Dirty politics is when your opponent brings up the fact that your daughter had an abortion when she was 19.

I agree that politicians need to compromise, and sometimes trade votes.  That's fine if it's for getting funding for a highway project vs someone else getting funding for a business trying to retain employees.  But if a politician is going to trade his vote for a hot button issue he darn well better be prepared to face the consequences, because as a voter if the guy can so easily trade away his vote for something so important, I don't want him as my representative.

I'm starting to wonder if all politics is dirty politics.  I think more disturbing though, when I was a kid I used to look at not just politicians but authority figures as people who stood for something.  It seems like the older I get the less I think that's the case.

Politics is a compound word.

Poli - many

Tics - small blood sucking diseased vermon.
