People like Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, and Richard Pryor make fun of everyone and are very funny doing it. Actually many comedians do. Comedy is the one place making fun of stereotypes is aloud. Some comedians have "schtick" that they do a type of comedy like Jeff Foxworthy about rednecks or George Lopez and Mexicans but there are many, many comedians that make fun of both and get away with it.

Name one.

When did Chris Rock join the "cracker ass cracker" club? (I loved the routine by the way as to not confuse). What makes a statement racist is the intent behind it, not who says it.
For the record, the "cracker ass cracker" routine is Chris Rock talking about how racist old black men are (link), which kind of proves my point.  Do you seriously believe Jeff Foxworthy could say the words "the most racist people you'll ever meet are old black men" and keep a job?  Ask Michael Richards.

I know the routine, I said I enjoyed it. I didn't mean to insinuate that was Rock speaking or his opinion. It was a play on old black men being racist because of the racism they faced. It still can be considered controversial by those looking to make waves.

But only by those looking to make waves.

I can tell Jewish jokes and nobody is going to get offended unless they are looking to make waves.  If I do Jeff Foxworthy's bit I will offend half the people who live below the Mason Dixie line. If Jeff Foxworthy starts cracking on Jews or Blacks his career as a comedian is over.

Yes, and Rock can comment on the racism of (old) black people without an uproar because he is a member of that group, which was my whole point.  A great deal of Rock's comedy is about his own community/culture, just like Lopez and Foxworthy.  That's why it works.

Do you recall why the old black men are racsists though? He addresses the racsim of the old white men as being the cause.

Yes, he addressed the racism of old white men at a time when that racism was coded into law.  The "cracker ass cracker" comment (which Rock delivered from the perspective of the old black man) was in response to that history of institutionalized racism.

I'm not sure I get your point, here.

That's ridiculous, either something is racist or it isn't. If we are supposedly all equal, everyone should have the same set of rules. The suggestion that someone of one race can do something or have something that someone of another race can't is racist in itself. That implies superiority, not equality. Blacks seem to want to have things that whites don't or can't have. NAACP, BET, Miss Black America, Black History Month, etc etc etc, are all examples of things that blacks have. Imagine the black outrage and cries of racism if white people were to have the same organizations. The same goes for the N word or any derivative of it. If you don't like other people saying it, then don't use it. Protest anyone who says it regardless of race. Otherwise you are part of the problem....

Nice rant, not sure what it has to do with me or my post at all. Do you deny that intent is what makes something racist? That is my point.

Lisa Lampenelli, Greg Giraldo, Sarah Silverman, Gilbert Gotfriend, Daniel Tosh, Ricky Gervais and on and on. Many comedians talk about everyone and use colorful language to do it.

Using a word is either racist or not. If one group of people uses it, the world should use it.

Which one of those comedians bases a large portion of their comedy routine on analyzing a race other than their own?

You're being incredibly naive if you think George Lopez could base his career on "You Might Be A Redneck If..." jokes.  That's not to say that all comedians don't venture into occasional jokes involving various races... but Lopez and Rock and Foxworthy don't make occasional jokes about their own race.  They pay their bills with them.

You are completely incorrect in that. A word is simply a word, the intent behind the word is the issue. If I say "Chris Rock uses the word n*****" I am not being racist. If I called Chris Rock "a low down, dirty ni**er", that is racist. I would be using the same word but have completely different uses of that word.

Lisa Lampenelli is known for her digs against blacks and her relationships with them. All you need to do is watch any of the Comedy Central roasts for that. She's hilarious. I know Daniel Tosh will rag on any race and he doesn't care and he gets his own show. I don't know about the others and what their comedy routine is like.

Phishfan, there isn't much point to discussing issues of race with badger6.  He has a... unique perspective.
