I actually don't blame Romo for any of this stuff.  He's a good player -- numbers-wise, he's Aaron Rodgers.  People create this 4th quarter myth.  But his team can't run the ball to close the game and his defense gives up a ton of points.

He's held to an unfair standard.

Actually, Romo is the anti-Rodgers.

Rodgers has been notoriously bad at comebacks, but that's because he does very well at keeping his team out of the position to come back (i.e. getting a lead early and keeping it).  In contrast, Romo has been outstanding when his team is losing, but bad when it's tied or he's protecting a <8 point lead.

It's no myth.  I've seen many a time where he has failed in the fourth quarter from the fumbled field goal snap in the 2006 playoffs against Seattle to yesterday.

Every quarterback fails many-a-time in the 4th quarter.  You're only counting the hits and not the misses.  If you're using one game where Romo is a HOLDER in a game 7 years ago...whatever.  Your anecdotal memory is not relevant.

Dallas sucks and gives up way too many points.  And they don't know how to coach with a lead.

It benefits me greatly that the Cowboys are doing so poorly as I have a personal bet with a DC fan ... but their biggest weakness is coaching on both sides of the ball.  They are bad, bad, bad!!

Tom Brady just threw a game-losing interception in the end zone to a player who was on the practice squad of a different team a week ago.

That's not the only one.  There are several.  The playoff game against the Giants in 2007 and the final game of the season against Washington last year for the divisional crown are two more examples. Meanwhile, I cant think of a single instance where he led his team to a fourth quarter comeback win.

So you can't remember all the way back to Week 9, then.

Or this game or this game or this game or this game or this game (all from last year).

The HC and the OC deserve a lot of credit for this loss also with their absolute refusal to run the ball in the second half.

It was reported today that they were caling in runs, and the INT was called in as a run, that Romo decided to go with a pass. So it is Romo's fault for not handing the ball off to his RB and tossing the pick that cost them the game.

So Romo audibled out of that run.  Fine.

What happened on the other 22 pass plays (out of 30 snaps) in the second half?  Did Romo audible 20+ times?

Mike and Mike pointed out this morning that in the Cowboys' 7 losses this year, Romo has 17 TDs and only 3 INTs, completing 61% of his passes. I think Dave is 100% right here, that there is an unfair standard and perception about Romo.  They happened in 2 games. He certainly isn't responsible for losing the other 5 because he isn't "clutch." And I don't recall him allowing 50+ against Denver.

I think most QBs in the league would gladly take that kind of play from themselves and if it was any other QB, more people would be pointing the finger where it should be with the Cowboys- anywhere BUT Romo. -EK

Herniated disc.  Even when he does come through in the clutch he finds a way to make something bad happen
