This is not a Fire Jeff Ireland thread...It's just another way to ask if you want the Dolphins to make a trade!

You're the Gm,Would you make a trade? who would you trade for? and what would you be willing to give up?

I would not.

I would consider trades if other teams came asking for one of my depth players, but I suspect that there's no one the Dolphins have that another team absolutely needs.

I would stay put, and that includes NOT trading Matt Moore.

Sign Moore to an extension.  If he won't sign, start making calls.

I wouldn't trade Moore now. This team could actually make the playoffs, so he's more valuable as a backup should we get to the playoffs and Tanny goes down. I know, I shouldn't be thinking about the playoffs, but I'm not jumping the gun now I don't think. Simply look at the rest of the AFC and look at the Dolphins schedule and it's not hard to come up with 9 wins. Now they are no where close to that yet, but I got to believe that Miami will be favored in at least 3 or 4 games from here out, so unless they collapse they have a legitimate shot.

More importantly and immediately, we are not sure Tannehill is ready to play on Sunday and the trade deadline is before then. Moore was the big trade target I thought but we need to keep him now. Backup QBs are very important in this league. I agree with Spider that we should try to resign him, I just wonder if he wants to go somewhere else for another shot though.

So MIA can keep Moore and lose in the divisional round?  Or maybe the AFCC?

I'd definitely take a 2nd or 3rd over that, and probably take a 4th.

^^ would you throw this season away for a 6th or 7th?

No one will give you a 2nd or 3rd (or 4th) for a backup QB that is 3 months away from being a free agent.

I agree. I do not see Moore commanding a 2nd or 3rd but you never know what some teams will do.

What team can trade for Matt Moore, and reasonably start him?  It would take him 3-4 weeks just to learn the offense.  He has almost no trade value at this point, but has tremendous value to Miami right now.

This isn't MLB where you just trade guys in their last year and they're in the starting lineup that night.  There's learning curve involved.

Are you really categorizing "trading away the 6-6 backup to your rookie starting QB" as throwing away the season?  Is MIA some sort of juggernaut with Tannehill or Moore at QB?

To answer your question, no, I don't think a 6th or 7th is really worth anything.  5th is a tough call.  4th is no brainer.

You're dodging the question.

If you can get a 2nd/3rd/4th for Moore, do you turn it down in favor of "saving this season?"

I mean, if you can't get anything of value, then of course you keep him.  But you're saying that Ireland shouldn't even try to shop him because the Dolphins need him right now.

A team like ARI or KC could trade for him and get him to sign an immediate extension, provided they view him as a solution at starter.

It was a hypothetical question.  No implication made.  Considering that trading away Moore could leave Pat Devlin as the Dolphins' starting QB in the middle of a 3 game winning streak, yes, it could be throwing away the season.

I didn't think it was a question posed to me, but - 2nd or 3rd, I'd probably take it, but be realistic.  What team like Arizona or KC is in a position to mortgage their future to "win now?"  (Or win in 3 weeks when Moore would be up to speed and ready to start). That's the kind of team that would make that trade.  A team with playoff hopes that just lost their starter and needs a spot filler for 2-3 weeks to not give it all away.

Oh, wait, Matt Moore is already on that team...

My answer was, about the time I posed this question, was maybe a bigger pounding back for 4th quarters of game...It would be someone who would be able to mae a pretty immediate impact...No I'm not saing trade for Steven Jackson...just a bigger back...With Reggie being smaller, and injury prone, and Daniel Thomas coming off a concussion.I feel it could be a smart move....

Here's what changed my mind,we took RB Jonas Gray off the PUP list,he's a big back,we have 3 weeks to put on the roster or release him...(It might be why we cut Armstrong I don't know)

Matt Moore- I'd only trade him if I could get good value now..Like to K.C for a RB Shaun Draughn, and a 7th Rd pick, that would turn into 6th if starts half the game...That way I get something I could use now,and in the future for giving up Moore...Otherwise I keep him...I feel I'd have to get a player back IMO

Cardinals Need OL,I can't see them giving much for Moore.

I'm not convinced that the dropoff between Moore/(rookie year) Tannehill and Devlin is big enough to be considered throwing away the season.  Moore is not a playoff QB and Tannehill still has a lot of growing to do.

Arizona, who has the same record as Miami but doesn't have their future franchise QB already on the roster.
