Gaffney saw his first action against the Jets and got behind the defense twice.  Matt Moore made 2 nice passes along the sideline.  Gaffney came down with one for a 30 yard gain, but dropped the 2nd that would have been a 70 yard TD.

The Dolphins are Gaffney's 7th team in 10 years.  I know Gaffney got cut by both the Redskins and Pats this year, so I guess I don't expect much.  It would be nice if we had someone who could stretch the field.  What can we reasonable expect from him?

He is a deep threat.  And not a bad one at that.  But he is not as good as Brandon Lloyd and NE offense isn't designed around needing multiple deep threats.

Even if he isn't, would you want Burress?  I love the Dolphin's new strategy for dealing with headcases and prima donnas - get rid of them.  The team atmosphere seems so much better without the distractions that you get with players like Marshall and Johnson.

I don't know what it is, but there is a reason that no team will touch Burress, which is surprising since some teams (Raiders, Bengals, etc) will take a chance on anyone.  I think that says a lot.

Agree 100%

Make that 200%. I get the feeling that Gaffney has not been with 1 team, 1 system and 1 QB  long enough to get comfortable. Hope he hangs around for awhile.

A good example of a player needing some stability and minimum changes is Alex Smith. He played in multiple systems and was labeled a bust by many. 2 years with Harbaugh and he looks like a pro bowler.

Are you counting the Redsking & Pats as teams twice? I didn't think this number sounded right so I looked up his career. 2002-2005 Houston, 206-2008 New England, 2009-2010 Denver, 2011 Washington, 2012 Miami. I really him being in someone's camp (and them being teams he already played for) as adding two more teams, but I guess you do.

Competent, yes.

Pro Bowler, no.
