Battle of two of the NFC's best on MNF tonight...but both are running with backup QBs. So far, it's been all Colin Kaepernick and the Niners D, but there is a lot of game left to play.

One "thing that makes me smile"... So far, there have been no called runs for Kaepernick. You know Chicago had to be prepping for him scrambling all week in practice. I love our coaching staff. Grin

Kaepernick is getting the job done with his arm, against a good Bears secondary to boot.  So far, he's got 158 passing yards and a touchdown on 9 of 11 passing.  He keeps this up, Alex Smith better get used to holding a clipboard.

Kaepernick has a laser arm and turbo cleats. If he ever completely figures out the game, he could be scary good.

I also think the 1-2 RB punch of Frank Gore & Kendall Hunter is one of the best in the game today.

^^^^^

The knock on him was his size and the fact that he didn't run a conventional offense in college.  Apparently neither are hampering him tonight.

The 49ers young studs are really beating down the Bears...Kaepernick on offense, Aldon Smith on D. How does that song go? "The future's so bright, I've gotta wear shades..."

The Bears might are trying really hard to get the "Worst Offensive Line in the NFL This Season" award.  I would say it was the 9ers being just so awesome if the Bears weren't giving up like 9 sacks per game to every team they play.

They are garbage without Cutler.  Total puppy poo.

^^ They already started on ESPN last night.  Guys are still on the field and the graphic on the screen said "Should Alex Smith start once he's healthy?"

Normally, whenever a backup has a good game like this, the coach usually jumps out and says, "This is still <insert starting quarterback's> team".

A telling sign is that Jim Harbaugh never came forward and said, "This is still Alex Smith's team."

Kaepernick is getting a second start this weekend against New Orleans. Alex is able to play, but I think this is equal parts "Let's give Alex another week to get his head right" and "Kap roasted the Bears defense...wonder what he can do against the Saints?"
