I have already said that I think that Ireland is done.  After the embarrassing Titans loss (not to mention 2 more losses to pretty lame teams), I think the writing is on the wall for Ireland.

Even if we were to do well and finish .500 (which is a longshot, considering our schedule), I just think the "strong finish" argument is wearing thin.

I think that Nolan Carol is done after this year, as well.

Ireland isn't going anywhere just yet, the last draft was one of the best in recent memory. They've already gotten 2 starters from the draft and I think it's only a matter or time before they get at least a couple more. Egnew is the only real disappointment and I think a lot of the reason that he can't get onto the field is the circumstances moreso than his play. He's being asked to practically change positions as the TE position in the Missouri offense was basically a WR position and he has Fasano and Clay in front of him on the depth chart. I've been reading that he's been coming around a bit as of late and that if Fasano wouldn't have suited up this week that Egnew would have been active. I realize that's not much to crow about, but he's the only one that was really expected to make the active roster that hasn't yet. Tannehill, Martin and Vernon have all contributed a bunch. Mathews and Hill have seen some action, not really sure if Kaddu has seen any playing time and that's not even mentioning undrafted rookie free agent Javorskie Lane who has also contributed.

Veteran free agent acquisitions have been a disappointment for a variety of reasons, but the last draft at least was solid.

Jake Long.  He did a lousy job against Seattle.  His play is getting worse and worse every week.  At this point, Miami would be wise to cut ties with him at the end of the season.  His potential replacement is already on the roster playing a different position.

I don't like using Nolan Carroll as a the example,because let's remember he was probably fighting for the Dime corner spot in training camp.He's sort of Starter by injury.Our CB's were S.Smith,V.Davis,R.Marshall,Then maybe Carroll,Stanford,Maybe Jimmy Wilson..Etc.etc..As seen on Hard knocks...The Vontae wasn't hustling,and at that time the Colts were texting ,and bringing up their offer for Vontae..So we traded Vontae,and everyone got bumped,then Marshall went on IR..

Yeah the Depth is not as good,I also feel we could be in the exact situation if we'd kept Vontae,Vontae could have still stuck up the joint,and gotten hurt...It's all in hindsight....I'm sure there are plenty of haters,that can cite 50 other examples...

I feel Sherman is the Key,He's a former head coach,and Packers Gm,while he was the head coach there.I think regardless of how we finish, I think he' be interviewing for head coaching vacancies.I feel if He leaves it hurts us in so many ways,more than just his offense play calling.I fell he's the Glue,go between between Philbin,and Ireland.He also brings another set of GM eyes,on top of it,that knows Philbinand what he wants really well..

I totally agree I don't think Ireland is going anywhere...But...

My question would be you'd have to have someone that you'd want to replace him with,and who would that be...It would Be Mike Holmgren.I could see a scenario where they would Fire Ireland,and Go after Mike Holmgren. Personally I don't like it,I don't think he's done a great job as a GM,head guy,and think it would be Parcells all over again...

I think Spider's right.  If Ireland is dumped, whoever they bring in to be the GM will want "his" guy to coach.  No one worth their salt wants to do the cooking with someone else's groceries, so to speak.  If Ireland goes, there's a high probability that Philbin goes, too.

Not necessarily.  If it's a GM that is famliar with Philbin and his system and they have common philosophies, then there's a strong possibility that Philbin will stick around.

If the team performs poorly enough next year for one of them to be on the chopping block, both of them would be.  I cannot envision a scenario in which the 2013 or 2014 Dolphins play poorly enough for Ireland to lose his job, but good enough for Philbin to keep his.

If you're thinking that they are both safe for a year, I can buy that.

I don't think that there's any way that Philbin is gone this year (regardless of what happens to Ireland).  He's generally liked by the fans.  I would be shocked to see another 1 and done coach.

But this is our draft year.  We have a lot of picks and a lot of cap space.  If your front office doubts Ireland, now is the time to pull the trigger.  The next guy will have a lot to work with.

He's not a #1 corner by any means.  He's so tall and uncoordinated that he gets turned around easily and loses sight of the ball in the process.
