Russell Wilson

Watching Russell Wilson this year has been bittersweet. It's always nice to make the right call on a prospect, but this is one case where I wish I had been wrong. Russell Wilson is a scary-good QB, and he is only going to get better. I really do wish Miami would have taken a shot on him now.

Now that you guys have seen him at the NFL level, what do you think? Flash in the pan, or legitimate franchise QB?

3/26 (locked thread, so no quote):  "On a "short" note: Two undersized QBs who will likely go in the middle rounds that I'd have no problem seeing on SF or Miami's roster: Russell Wilson from Wisconsin and Kellen Moore from Boise State. As I noted in a different thread, I'd like to see Miami take a 3rd-4th round flyer on either Russell Wilson from Wisconsin or Kellen Moore from Boise State.

I like Blackmon as well...and would have no problem with Miami taking him at #8 if he's still on the board.

I said this before, a couple of times in other threads...but I think that Wilson will surprise people once he gets into the NFL. Yes, he's short...but he's accurate, extremely smart and athletic enough to give defenses something to think about.  If Miami (or SF, for that matter) throw a late round flyer at this guy, I'd be happy.

Sure, in Rd 7 if he is there, take him nothing to lose. Taking him in rounds 4 or 5 and expecting him to do anything, its a wasted pick

Disagree completely with the Pat White comparison. Put film of both standing in the pocket and throwing side by side, and I think the difference is obvious. Again though, I did say "late round flyer," so we're talking about the dice-roll picks anyway.  If your team's QB cupboards are bare, I can't think of a better position to throw a late round pick at than QB.

Wilson and that whole Seahawk team is looking pretty good right now.  Apparently, that loss in Miami really left a bad taste in their mouths.

I've been enjoying Wilson play a lot.  One thing that really sticks out to me is that when he scrambles, he doesn't seem to take a lot of big hits.  He is just elusive enough to step out of bounds or slide.  As opposed to RG3, who looks like he's searching for contact sometimes.

But when you have the #1 rushing offense and the #4 defense, you have a lot more leeway.  Wilson is rarely put in positions where he has to win the game for the Seahawks on his arm.

Exactly. I live in Washington and the Seahawks fans are way blinded. They think Wilson has done more than Luck for rookie of the year, and when you point out the above mentioned statistics, and the fact Indy won one game last year and are also going to the playoffs, I think that speaks higher of Luck than Wilson.
Imagine what Luck or RGIII would do in Seattle.

For whatever reason I'm not sold on this guy. I think he has gotten some breaks this year or otherwise would just be another QB.  I want to see how long that lasts.

Let us not forget that bad call has put them one game from winning their division, and kept Green Bay from possibly getting home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
