We are down to the final four teams.  Got the top two seeds in the NFC squaring off in the early game, and a rematch of last year's AFC title game in the late matchup.

Niners at Falcons- A rookie quarterback has never started in a Super Bowl.  There is a good reason for that.  Nothing will prepare a rookie for the amped up football that is played at this point in the season.  However, Colin Kaepernick is no ordinary rookie.  The man is a freak of nature.  After witnessing him dismantle the Green Bay defense almost single handedly, I have no doubts he will be able to do the same against an Atlanta defense that is a little banged up.  Atlanta had a lot of trouble moving the ball against Seattle's defense in the second half.  They will have even more trouble against San Fran's.  Kapernick will set history being the first rookie quarterback to start in a Super Bowl.

Predicition- Niners

Ravens at Patriots- Last year, the Ravens were a blown call on a touchdown pass and a missed field goal away from knocking off the Patriots on their own turf.  Joe Flacco's play has actually improved ever since Cam Cameron was relieved of his duties as offensive coordinator.  And the Ravens defense is as stifling as ever.  They shut down Peyton Manning for a sizeable part of the game.  They may have a little more trouble with Tom Brady, but I can easily see Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense keeping pace.  Look for a Harbaugh brothers Super Bowl.

Prediction- Ravens

No chance of that happening, as Colin Kaepernick isn't a rookie...

49ers over Falcons, 46-23
Falcons aren't a defensive juggernaut...Kaepernick will roll.

Patriots over Ravens, 38-34
Belichick/Brady conquer part 1 of the Harbaugh Gauntlet...and send Ray-Ray into retirement.

Technically not as this is his second year in the league.  But he sat all last season, so some pundits would label this as his "rookie season"

9ers and Pats....

as much as I want to see the Pats sent packing I am not sure the Ravens can do it.

Harbaugh vs Harbaugh/Lewis if the NFL has anything to do with it. Unfortunately I see Brady bored by the fourth quarter against Baltimore which leads to a San Fran / New England match up.

In that case he wouldn't be the first QB to do so.  Tom Brady sat his first season and in his second season won a superbowl.

You're right.  My bad.  Another similarity is that both quarterbacks got their chance due to an injury to the team's starter.

I'll pick the Falcons and Ravens as the two teams who won't go to the Superbowl. Does that help? Smiley

January of 1998 was the last time that both home teams lost on Championship Sunday. Lets see if it happens this Sunday.

Ravens avenge last year's heartbreak.
49ers finally put an end to the "Falcons are for real" talk.
