I can't believe we're only at the halfway mark.  I feel like if the playoffs started now, it would be perfect.  We already know which teams are contenders.  Too many games, unfortunately.

There are 80-something games because the owners make millions each game.  Not because they need 80-something games to determine the best team.

I agree, there are too many games.

If the playoffs started now, it would deprive today's kids of the cherished memories I had. Actually being to stay up to watch The Finals. Because they happened during summer break.

At the same time, the NBA playoffs would be going up against March Madness. Can you imagine the bowl season happening the same time as the NFL playoffs?

I think that the NBA season should start about a month later than it does.  66 games felt pretty right, actually.

It would probably be a 20-35 million dollar hit for each owner to remove 20-something games from the season.  Don't think the league can do that without MAJOR push back from the owners, just to randomly appease fans.

Same could be said for hockey and baseball.

yes, absolutely.  And the same reason why OWNERS are pushing to make the an NFL 18 game season.

It would be cool if there were 2 NBA seasons in a year.  Like a Summer league and a Winter League.

^^^ Technically there is Summer League NBA action. It goes unnoticed because it is basically rookies and bench players getting experience in what I would call an exhibition format.

Well, Dave. Now you get your wish. The playoffs start tomorrow. Since the Magic finished dead last in the NBA (no surprise there), I get to sit back & watch the Spurs shock the world. And by shock the world, I mean make it past the 1st round. If there's anything worse than Sports Media Kobe Love. It's Sports Media Laker sans Kobe Love.
