NFL Network just announced it...no word yet on terms, and it isn't even posted on ESPN yet.

I definitely think this signing will have more of an impact than Colt McCoy. I like Nnamdi, but wonder which Nnamdi we'll get...the shutdown monster, or the disappointment from 2012 in Philly?

edited to add link that just popped on NFL.com

The Niners defensive backfield just got tougher.  Way to bolster up to face Percy Harvin

Odds are the latter.  His lack of success last year wasn't for lack of effort or bad scheme just he is getting older.  He is still one of the best CBs in the game, but he isn't monster he was in Oakland.

^^Agree. He isn't the same player he once was, not even close.

I've actually heard multiple NFL analysts say exactly the opposite...that the way Philly used Asomugha was not to his strength.

In the words of the immortal Dr. Seuss... "We shall see, we shall see..."

Too bad they didn't sign him to a longer, more expensive contract.

My only hope is that Asomugha has officially entered the "Patrick Surtain" portion of his career: blinding (individual) success with his original team, to be followed by several years of mediocrity...

Remember, Spidey..."Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies."

Now, sit back and watch the 49ers win their 6th Super Bowl like a good hater... Wink

Actually, as much as I detest the thought of SF making it to the Super Bowl, this last one solved a problem for me.  I've had to hear crap from my dad for years about the 49ers being The Only Team That's Never Lost In Multiple Super Bowl Trips, and there was only one way to end that particular point.  Praise Be Unto Ray-Ray.

Only 2 teams in NFL History have gone to the Super Bowl and lost only to return the next year and win it. Dallas and Miami and that was back in the single digit Super Bowls (Dallas 5 and 6) Miami (6 and 7). History isn't on SF's side next year to win it all

I'm not nearly as interested in ancient NFL history as I am in the immediate NFL future.

I can't tell you how happy I am that you finally found some closure...
