I was really hoping to grab a TE here and we did.  Simms shows good all around blocking.  He plays to the whistle and has Antonio Gates like size.  Good pickup.

Lindys has him as a 3rd or 4th round pick.  Says his main knocks are a 2010 felony charge and multiple injuries in 2010.  That's the bad.

The good is that he has excellent body control and quickness, tough to bring down after the catch...

Kiper has him as his 3rd overall TE. Says don't judge based on his numbers last year since Mich St's QB play was terrible this past season

This dude has some record. He had a role in a crime ring that stole more than 100 laptops from Detroit Public Schools. His own lawyer said Sims served as the "middleman" in the operation which got him a felony conviction.

The Dolphins put a lot into "high character" guys. Looks like with Sims they looked the other way on this.

Ireland discussed this in his presser. Said that they did their due diligence, talked to the kid, talked to others etc and decided to go ahead with drafting him. Philbin has a history of giving guys a second chance, but if they screw it up cutting ties with them quickly. He better not slip up.

Nice little stat from the Miami Herald on Sims...... Twenty nine of his 36 catches in 2012 went for first downs or touchdowns.

I was THRILLED with this pick.  I think you will all be surprised.  A big blocking TE with good receiving ability is exactly what they need, with question marks on the o-line.  And he has no pressure, cause Keller will stop-gap.

I am curious to see if Sims will out-perform Egnew in camp.  Jeffy might have to cut losses on that one.
