It looks like the Dolphins are still working that LT position. Other than the Super Bowl ... I don't know much about him. Any thoughts?

AP
Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland must have really big sleeves.

According to Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network, Ravens free agent tackle Bryant McKinnie is visiting the Dolphins today about their need for a left tackle.

Ireland said a Branden Albert trade was still a possibility, but indicated he had a Plan B, saying “I have some things up my sleeve that might work out.”

If they get the McKinnie who played so well in the postseason for the Ravens, they have a chance to improve. If they get the McKinnie who has battled weight and conditioning problems, not so much.

If nothing else, it’s a solid piece of leverage, if they’re trying to rekindle trade talks. But McKinnie’s more than solid when he’s motivated, which being stiff-armed by the Ravens ought to take care of.

Great tackle when healthy & motivated. Doesn't hurt to look at him.

I think the "motivated" part is the one that would worry me the most... Still a chance for Winston, or even Albert. Knockin' on wood.

Give him a one year deal, there's your motivation.

there was a report there is a fear that if McKinnie is playing in his hometown of Miami (where he went to college and now lives in the offseason) that he may be very distracted and could get into trouble off the field.

So I am sure that is a big factor in all of this.  We will see.

The Albert trade makes too much sense for all parties involved so I think when push comes to shove it will eventually get done. Might not happen till late July/early August though.

McKinnie signed a 2 year deal with the Ravens.

I'm kinda relieved he is the one guy I didn't want in all honesty.

I agree there. He's battled weight and attitude problems his entire career. Didn't he get kicked off the Pro Bowl team once?

I'm glad the Dolphins didn't sign this guy.  Turns out he is being held out of the Ravens practices because he is too heavy.   I never liked his attitude towards the game.  He's a perfect example of big on talent but short on desire.

Can't argue with that assessment.
